The anticipation for Cameron Crowe's Pearl Jam documentary, Pearl Jam Twenty , continues to grow today with a new trailer featuring Chris Cornell. The Soundgarden frontman looks back to when his band and Pearl Jam offered each other some friendly competition and, at one point, collaborated. As most of you know, members of both seminal grunge oufits joined forces as Temple of the Dog, a tribute to their deceased friend, Andrew Wood. Cornell speaks on that, too, in the video below. Pearl Jam Twenty airs on PBS next Friday, Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. [...]
Former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan is now, among other things, a columnist for Rocks Off's sister music blog in Seattle, Reverb. This month Touchstone Books will publish Duff's memoir, It'... Continue reading "Duff: A Failed Arson Attempt & Soundgarden Show In Seattle" >

We keep our eyes peeled for new tour dates announcements each week and compile them on Tuesdays for this handy column… Last year, former Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters celebrated the 30th anniversary of The Wall by mounting an extensive world tour, that was touted for its updated multi-media presentation of the iconic album. Last week, Waters revealed to Rolling Stone , whose latest issue features a cover story on the legendary psychedelic rock band, that he would be bringing the tour back to the United States next [...]

Other early notables include Girl Talk, My Chemical Romance, Odd Future, Battles, Best Coast, Röyksopp, Architecture in Helsinki, Boy & Bear, and Mariachi El Bronx. Chris Cornell is guilty of making one of the worst solo albums ever. He is also guilty of making one of my all-time favorite solo albums, Euphoria Morning. So what can we expect with this one? Well, the good news is he's back in Soundgarden and playing guitar again. He also has ditched Timbaland (thank you big baby Jesus)! And furthermore he did a solo acoustic tour recently. Based on the first

Everybody Loves Our Town Mark Yarm As a music related site it's perhaps a little surprising that the Devil has never posted a review of a music related book in the five years since the site was launched. Well that anomaly is corrected today with a review of Everybody Loves Our Town subtitled, very accurately, "an oral history of Grunge" by former Blender magazine senior editor Mark Yarm (his real name and no relation to Mudhoney's Mark Arm). [...]

Chris Cornell has been a busy, busy man. From the time his iconic Seattle band, Soundgarden , broke up in 1997, Cornell has kept himself fully immersed in everything from his evolving solo career to fronting the supergroup Audioslave to co-writing songs with American Idol 's David Cook. He's even been dabbling in the film industry, contributing "You Know My Name" for Casino Royale , as well as the song "The Keeper" for Marc Foster's latest film, Machine Gun Preacher , which is now playing. But by far the greatest thing [...]
Regardless of your thoughts on this year's lineup, to the festival's credit, the Voodoo Experience always does a bang-up job of compiling one of the most unique, wholly eccentric and random yearly lineups of any American festival. No one outside of the Rehage camp could've envisioned this sorta lineup and I'm actually kind of excited about it after having been to Bonnaroo and ACL this year (two great festivals, but two with a great deal of crossover acts). Doubt I'll get another chance to see Soundgarden, Blink-182, Fatboy Slim, Peelander Z and Snoop in the same weekend.
Last night on David Letterman's late night TV slot, Chris Cornell , the man that fronted the legendary Soundgarden took to the stage with his acoustic guitar to put in a nice performance of "The Keeper" which features on the soundtrack for Machine Gun Preacher . Check out the performance at the top of the page courtesy of the tireless Audio Perv .

Other notables acts include TV on the Radio, Social Distortion, Mastodon, Band of Horses, Ray Davies, The Original Meters, Dr. John and the Lower 911, OFWGKTA, Major Lazer, X, The Bloody Beetroots, A-Trak, Boots Electric, Cheap Trick, Violent Femmes' Gordon Gano, and Kreayshawn. Rounding out the bill are Ani DiFranco with Ivan Neville and Herlin Riley, Portugal. the Man, [...]
Remember a couple of years back, when we saw that video of Machine Head's Robb Flynn rocking out at a Metallica concert while watching from the floor and not the VIP section or the side of the stage or wherever? Well, if the below footage of Dave Grohl doing likewise at a Soundgarden reunion show in Los [...]
While we continue to wait for that Killcorpse Murder project with Adam D., Corpsegrinder, and Shannon Lucas to get off the ground, here's another newly-teased supergroup to get you all hot under the collar. Noisecreep noticed on Friday afternoon that DevilDriver vocalist Dez Fafara and Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton announced - via their respective [...]

Let us beat past the arduous task of re-explaining everything we've mouthed on at great length about here , here , and here . With numerous members of our staff pushing 30, it's no surprise that we have such a loyal early-902s fan base amongst us. We were likely born in a cloud of Aqua Net, only to be raised by ravaging alt-rock wolfpacks, and we're goddamned proud of it! For those 702s alumni out there who could stage dive at Alice Cooper with the best of 'em... stop pickin' on me or I'll use my Wayne [...]

This past weekend, Pearl Jam celebrated their 20th year together as a band by headlining their own Pearl Jam Twenty festival at the Wisconsin ski resort town of East Troy. Festival attendees had to endure a whole ton of rain, but they also got some big one-night-only collaborations. The biggest of those was almost certainly a reunion of Temple Of The Dog, the collaborative PJ/Soundgarden project responsible for the classic yell-along "Hunger Strike." Chris Cornell joined the band onstage during the encores and sang "Hunger Strike," "Call Me A Dog,"" "All Night Thing," and the Mother Love Bone track "Reach [...]

Soundgarden lead singer, Chris Cornell, who holds a special place in our teenage hearts for " Blackhole Son ," has released "The Keeper" off the soundtrack from the movie Machine Gun Preacher . For the next 24 hours the track is available for donate-to-download with proceeds going to the Machine Gun Preacher Organization , which helps provide a safe haven for the multitudes of children and adults fleeing enslavement by the brutal Lord's Resistance Army in Northern Uganda and Southern Sudan. On "The Keeper" Cornell softly sings "Beauty and truth collide where love meets genocide, where laughter meets [...]
