Huddersfield thrashers, Evile have had a mad 2008 and so we caught up with lead guitarist/master shredder, Ol Drake to chat about touring with Megadave and getting a Subway sandwich endorsement. What was your highlight of 2008? It's a mixture of two. Touring Europe with Megadeth was a dream come true – great guys and great band – but also the tour with Exodus. We've had so much fun in 2008. Generally, I consider myself a pretty avid fan of South Park - the mixture of completely sophomoric humor and social satires gets me every damn time. But this season has been kinda weak - short of Indiana Jones getting raped by Steven Spielbery and George Lucas, I don't think I've laughed out loud once. So now [...]
So was anyone else wondering how in god's name did Trey Parker and Matt Stone pull off an Obama themed episode centered around his winning the election just 24 hours later? Including his acceptance speech. South Park has always been timely, but this seemed preposterously timely. IGN got the scoop . IGN TV: First and foremost, I want to ask you: how did you get this episode finished in time? Matt Stone: We talked about doing an election episode for a couple of months. [...]

This is pretty funny. I was obsessed with Cloverfield ARG and with the movie when it came out so this hits close to home. Good job boys Dig

As long as there have been bands, there have been songs about women, from Marilyn Monroe to Monica Lewinsky to Queen Elizabeth. So why not Paris Hilton, the modern era's most disposable tartlet, a perfect subject for the modern era's disposable pop songs. Which isn't to say that all of the below are lousy, but unlike say "Alison," "Melissa" or "Angie," won't likely be remembered generations from now. Nor for that matter will the lasting cultural contributions of Ms. Hilton. Cansei de Ser Sexy - "Meeting Paris Hilton" Attempts to set [...]
from the new south park that aired last night in America watch the full episode over at www.southparkstudios.com

The Academy-Award nominated, Emmy-winning, ever-brilliant entity known as South Park returns this Wednesday following a brief hiatus. Over the last dozen years, Trey Parker and Matt Stone's brainchild has evolved from a simple gross-out cartoon intent on pushing the boundaries of basic cable to a whipsmart satire of contemporary American politics and culture (intent on pushing the boundaries of basic cable). At times, the turnaround from current event to grist for the South Park mill has been staggering; many episodes have gone from conception to broadcast within as little as two weeks. As such, [...]
Well, no, not really. The above photo of alleged "song titles," all references to MetalSucks' favorite construction paper-animated satirical sitcom, comes from a studio blog the band has just launched to keep fans in the loop with regards to progress on their new album, which will be produced by Jason Suecof and released in '09. The [...]
Ok I'm nine days late, but to be honest, nine days ago this man wasn't really relevant to me, musically at least. I was more than familiar with his voice-acting as Chef, Chocolate Salty Balls and his (unfortunate) membership in the church of Scientology. But as news started filtering through about his death I thought I'd investigate, two albums kept on coming up in tributes to him, the Shaft Soundtrack and Hot Buttered Soul. I was already familiar with the Shaft theme tune, who isn't? So I decided to check out Hot Buttered Soul and it is [...]
If you're not familiar with Continuum's 33 1/3 book series, you should be. Each entry is written by a different music critic and/or journalist, and each one is devoted to the study of a single, seminal album. There's a wide range of types of music covered by the series - everything from the Beastie Boys [...]
Isaac Lee Hayes, Jr. passed away yesterday after being found unconscious near a treadmill in his home in Memphis. He was 65. It would be difficult to overstate Hayes' importance to '60s and '70s music. Hayes' work with Stax/Volt Records in the mid-'60s layed the foundation for the Memphis soul sound. His hugely important solo career furthered the range of soul and R&B, and also contributed to both disco and rap. Hayes joined Stax Records in 1964, and his first gig was as a pianist for Otis Redding. As a [...]

Isaac Hayes died yesterday 10 days from his 66th birthday of what appears to be a simultaneous Heart-Attack and Stroke. Most famous for his theme tune to the movie Shaft he earned fame in recent years for doing the voice of Chef in South Park. Unfortunately some peoples last memories of the man will be the bitter row he had with Matt Stone and Trey Parker over the depiction of his "Religion" in one of the best episodes of the show. The fact that a) he voiced Chef in many episodes that poked fun at all different types [...]

Yesterday, the world lost a musical treasure in ISAAC HAYES , who passed away in his Tennessee home at the age of 65. During his life, Hayes enjoyed a successful career as songwriter, producer, musician, actor, and voice-over artist. Hayes got his start as a songwriter for Stax in 1962 with friend David Porter , and penned tunes for Carla Thomas , The Astors , and many hits for the R&B duo Sam & Dave . Later in the decade he launched his own solo career with albums such as 1967's [...]

Kurva hommiku-uudisena selgus, et eile lahkus meie hulgast taevastele lavadele legendaarne Isaac Hayes, kes pikaajalisest ja teenekast muusikukarjäärist hoolimata on enim tuntud ilmselt siiski South Parki Chefile tolle mahlaka hääle andjana. Mäletame, vaatame ja kuulame.

Alright, which one of you pulled the fire alarm? Bender!?!? With high expectations, a few drinks already imbibed, and tickets procured several weeks ago, two cars full of potential Health Ledger For Oscar fanclub members left their cushy Echo Park hobo homes and drove to the Arclight Cinema in Hollywood for a midnight screening of The Dark Knight . That is the name of the new Batman movie, in case you've bee locked up in a closet getting fisted by your pedophile uncle for the past six or seven months. After a short [...]
Hey online friends, "what's up"? Me? I guess I'm doing fine. I have a gnawing pain in my stomach experts or scientists would probably define as hunger, and I have a lot of little errands to run today before work, but other than that I can't complain. I guess you're all hear because you're waiting for me to talk about the Mets, right? You want to know how it feels to be obsessed with a sports team at a time when that team literally could not be performing at a lower level. [...]

Just in time for my return to the East Coast, I uncover a website called Beer Menus, which allows users to search for individual bottles of beer all over the city using Google Earth. Also, clicking on a particular ale house forwards you to the most up-to-date beer menu available. I'm salivating at the thought of finding the best possible watering holes when I'm in town, and the thought of this project being extended to other cities, like the one I currently call home. Shockingly, the three most popular beers searched for are Abita Purple Haze (that shit is a [...]

Photography "Xmas Obsession No.4" by Tsuru Jesus was born, and so I get presents Thank you Jesus for being born! Hooooowdy hoooo, my dear pervy-ninjas!!! Are you flossing your teeth every day??? You know, as much as I fought the idea, I just couldn't seem to get past doing some kind of post dedicated to Santa's birthday. I love the holidays fine (though which holiday I could be celebrating, I really don't care, [...]
