I now pretty much nothing about Work Drugs , other than the assumption that mine would be more enjoyable if I had some. Same goes for Wintercoats - I know not of the musical variety, but am familiar with utilizing one to keep the cold at bay. But I know this: Southern Shores are awesome . And because this is an incontrovertible fact proven by sweaty dance science, I feel compelled to post any new SS material. As you might have already deciphered from that convoluted opener, Southern Shores [...]

Fader recently premiered remixes of Work Drugs ' "Ice Wharf" by Southern Shores and Selebrities via indie experimental pop label Cascine. You can download both versions for free below. Enjoy!
Once upon a time, an experimental pop label discovered an indie gem and decided to reconstruct it for the world to enjoy. This label is Cascine and the gem is a Philadelphia band called Work Drugs. Cascine kindly released two remixes of Work Drugs' "Ice Wharf" as free downloads from the label's dreamy clients, Southern Shores and Selebrities . "Ice Wharf" is originally about the power outage in Camden with a warm daze like potency. Selebrities's take on "Ice Wharf" calls back the images of girls with neon hair [...]

You remember Work Drugs right? The smooth-fi/sedative wave collective from Philadelphia has received a nice remix treatment from Canada's Southern Shores and Brooklyn's Selebrities for their latest single, 'Ice Wharf'. Both tracks can be grabbed for free! Download Download
Cascine , doing it again! This time they present Work Drugs ' Ice Warf' a song that joins the growing list of songs in the last three years written about places I used to live just around the corner from, in this case the Ice Warf in Camden. Not sure why you'd want to write a song about a Wetherspoon's, but the track is generally about getting drunk in Camden and mentions a few other places anyway. No Dublin Castle though? Anyhoo, Cascine have got two of their finest acts on reMix duties. Kicking off [...]
Where have I seen a site that looks like Work Drugs' wordpress before? Probably in a dream. - This sedative-wave, Philadelphian duo released a slew of tracks in 2011 and a couple of artists under the Cascine umbrella recently remixed 'Ice Wharf' off of Work Drugs' most recent record Aurora Lies. Southern Shores added their own dancy haze to the already blissfully content track, while Selebrities took the more shimmering bits of the 'Ice Wharf' and turned the brightness [...]

My god has this made our day! Our favourite emerging smooth-fi charmers, Work Drugs, team up with our favourite indie label charmers, Cascine . Selebrities and Southern Shores remix Work Drugs' "Ice Wharf" . continue reading >>

CASCINE have just posted a couple of remixes of Work Drugs' 'Ice Wharf' from two of their bands, Selebrities and Southern Shores . When multiple remixes appear at the same time for the same track, we love trying to decide which is our favourite. Usually the process is difficult due to not being able to distinguish between the 15 dance remixes [Insert band] has taped onto the original in attempt to sell the product as an EP - but on this occasion it's difficult due to them both being great, and also very different. [...]

I know, I know. Lists are annoying and trying to assign rankings and value to art is subjective at best. That's why these records - 25 from releases that really made an impact on me in '11 - aren't branded with any type of distinction other than "favorite." These are records, not songs, that warmed my heart, eased my pain, inspired my creativity or simply helped tap my toe or nod my head. They never asked for anything more than a listen, and I was more than happy to oblige. That being said, there [...]
On m'a adressé ce morceau en privé, estimant (à fort juste titre) que je lui serais ami. J'ose aussi croire de mon côté que vous lui réserverez les mêmes égards.Wintercoats - Forest of Lovers (Southern Shores Remix)

Wintercoats - Forest of Lovers ( Southern Shores Remix) Melbourne's James Wallace writes delicate songs. His own Cascine Records wisely put him together with his Canadian labelmates for this stunning collaboration to close out their epic year of excellent releases. Ethereal and dreamtime - drift away. Previously: " Windmill "

"Propped carelessly on the mantlepiece was a postcard of Millais' 'Autumn Leaves': the pale light fading, the leaves burning, the trees receding, the girls' faces touched by the light." STAL - We Are Two STAL is a Parisian electrogaze project from former M83 guitar player Pierre-Marie Maulini. This is the kind of serene song with which you can float around an art gallery or museum and pretend everyone else doesn't exist; that it's just you, the works and the walls. WE ARE TWO by STAL [...]
"The video for "Meridian" was filmed during Southern Shores ' first ever live performance back at the beginning of this summer at Tribeca in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Although the live setup has slightly been altered since the filming of this video, it provides a pretty good sense of what to expect...lots of dancing, sweating, smiles, and music that immediately whisks you away to a tropical and intoxicated state of mind." Southern Shores - "Meridian"

Okaaaay, HPX '11 is almost upon us, so what better way to continue getting ready for it than with another #hpx2011 edition of the Video Hits? I can think of anything, and I already have this post queued up, so let's do it. FYI: Southern Shores are awesome. The Ack said as much when we posted on this Haligonian duo's EP Atlantic some time ago, but honestly, I have yet to get tired of it. It's infectious stuff, lighter than air instrumental music which hearkens back to the electronic sounds of [...]

With a week of wide spread revolts and occupation by the 99% of us, the nation-wide mourning of Steve Jobs, and the unfortunate omnipresence of Lana Del Rey, the burgeois agenda of mediocrity ruled supreme. If you think the Nirvana, Nevermind 20th Anniversary exhumations are killing the legend, more material may very well be on the way as Butch Vig revealed the existence of a still yet to be released Nirvana track "Song in D" during a Sirius XM's Lithium channel interview conducted...

a brilliant and breathtaking film by Aline Diépois & Thomas Gizolme for Susan Lu's Bend Sport Couture and Southern Shores if you can't get enough of the dreamwave vibe make sure to listen Southern Shores' Atlantic EP bellow
