As the title of this post indicates, this will be a series of sorts cause I LOOOVE to karaoke. & occaisionally I'm delighted by some of the selections, more often I'm often saddened by the boring songs to choose from. If I had my way...I'd include these showstoppers: Spandau Ballet -- Gold I would wear a matador jacket & sing very emotionally into a skinny Bob Barker microphone: "These are my salad days, slowly being eaten away..." Please do yourself a favor & watch the video for it [...]

SPANDAU BALLET - PLEASURE (DREAMTIME MIX) Hi Everybody! Got a new DreamTime Mix for you today. It's the 1983 single Pleasure by British band Spandau Ballet . You can find the original version of this track on their album True . Besides todays selection it includes classics like Gold as well as the title track True , which was their biggest success to date. Sadly, there never was an extended mix done of [...]
I went back to a gym today for the first time since the end of October 2006. Four long months. And it showed. 10 mins on a x-country trainer, 35 minutes on a treadmill and 10 mins on an exercise bike as well as all sorts of stretching manoeuvres and sit-ups. I know I'm going to pay the price tomorrow and the day after. But I had to do it as I really am, again, ridiculously out of shape.

The financial juggling required by homeownership has put the kibosh on such frivolities, but before adult responsibilities choked off my disposable income in the fall of 2004, eBay and I had quite the torrid love affair going on. I bought a number of cool items through the auction site; it was an invaluable resource for tracking down various popcult artifacts that I had either missed out on in the past or had once owned and lost to the sands of time. Some of my more memorable purchases included: - various punk and new wave records that [...]
It's often the case that when I read other folk's blogs that I think to myself....'I wish I had thought of that'. And so, without feeling in the least bit creative this morning, I'm now going to steal from a couple of friends. I'm sure neither of them will mind. Mike over at Manic Pop Thrills posted a really appalling cover version of the Echo & The Bunnymen song Rescue. The perpetrators were

Again, no top of 2006 list for me. But here's something close. Top from 1981-1986 (otherwise known as the high school years). But a couple of caveats...I tried to stick with releases that actually came out during that time period. I also avoided the big names, just because those songs are easily found. So the skipped list is long: Psychedelic Furs - Love My Way Clash - Straight To Hell Violent Femmes - Add It Up Cure - Close to Me The Smiths - How Soon is Now Scritti Politti - [...]

Sixteen Candles is another one of those classic 80s movies that practically everyone in my generation has seen a million times and can quote endlessly. It was the film that basically kicked off Molly Ringwald 's career and energized the teen comedy trend. It's possibly my favorite John Hughes film from that era. Even after seeing it so many times, it never gets old. Sixteen Candles tells the story of Samantha, who is celebrating her sixteenth birthday. The problem? Her family has completely forgotten about it, mostly due to [...]
