2011 has been a busy year, it's the first time in six years that I've spent most of the year in India. It's been a good year from the gear acquisition front - two new amps and three new guitars now call my room their home. My own music has taken a bit of a backseat as I've been busy recording and gigging with other people. Alien Chutney recorded a live album at Blue Frog, which I produced and mixed. Nikhil D'Souza started sessions for his long awaited album in November which is turning out rather nicely. I [...]

When asked to look back at a whole year, it's funny how the first six months are almost non-existent in the memory. It has been quite literally a blur. Key takeaways? The power of technology, the vitality of deadlines, the importance of communication - all basic rules, only taken in more emphatically by our team! As far as the music goes, it's only getting better for the independent scene with more EPs, albums and a very dynamic internal marketing force. The Metallica travesty , followed by the Pitbull sham, were significant in bringing out two questions though [...]
This year has been nothing short of amazing. Making and playing music has been my main focus all year, and its has been a seriously fun ride with nonstop gigs, lots of studio time and lots of traveling. I had been working on my debut EP 'Dualism' since the beginning of the year when I got a call to play at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton, UK, in May 2011. It took me a while to realize that I'd been slotted to play at the main stage right before Beardyman and DJ Shadow - it was a dream come [...]
In short, 2011 has been a mindblowing year. I moved to New Delhi from London back in May and haven't looked back once. Working in the music industry in London was both a joy and a curse. Musically I couldn't complain but something was missing. It felt like creativity was at an all time low and the words oversaturated and dull come to mind. Being back in India has always been on the cards, I just didn't expect it to be like this. Having kept a keen eye on the music scene over here for the past couple [...]
2011 for me was, so far, the greatest year of my career. From taking Reggae Rajahs all over India to conceptualizing my own properties such as The Future , Importing Goods, Delitronica and many others; managing Dualist Inquiry and pushing his sound all over the world and helping set the standards for Indian electronica; establishing my personal solo project DJ MoCity and Belights - an audio-light show that will take India by storm in 2012; hosting over 10 international bands and organizing their tours; starting my own events and artist management [...]
It has been a terribly shitty year for me personally with the number of gigs for metal bands in the country drying up completely. Lots of things went wrong this year, Riju quit Workshop after which we disbanded, I recorded guitars for my Reptilian Death album and after I finished 10 songs my amp blew up so I have to re-record the entire album, Demonic Resurrection 's trip to the UK got canceled because of VISA problems and yada yada yada so it has been a fuck all year if I do say [...]
Boxing is a brutal display of human will. The best boxers always have a hunger and a drive that few can match and these qualities cannot be taught or trained. The World Series of Boxing is a stage that is the perfect stepping stone for some of these men to ascend to the highest echelons of boxing, and this competition serves as a test of will for these boxers. Amateur boxing is the most prevalent form of boxing worldwide and most Indian boxers are amateur boxers. The big money, and the fame, lies in professional boxing. [...]

We asked people to confess to us their deepest, darkest and sauciest secrets... NOT. Here's what peeps who attended the Bacardi NH7 Weekender 2011 thought about India's happiest music festival. The festival was awesome. It was definitely the biggest and best festival of India. Super well organized. Favourite moment would definitely be the super group jam with all the artists coming on stage and performing. - Gaurav Raina , one half of Midival Punditz I think it was a really really well organized [...]
Bangalore folk rockers Swarathma have carved a space for themselves in the Indian indie scene, with their unique brand of folk-rock, and stage antics which not only makes their gigs enjoyable, but also memorable. With a social message attached to their music, Swarathma have gathered a fanbase across parts of the country where most other bands have not even played, or even heard of. Varun Murali of Swarathma, often shy and quiet, has some unique licks up his sleeve. Being the lead guitarist of a folk-rock band that is heavy on percussion, is an uphill task. [...]
No big deal, you guys, it's just our third birthday over here at Knox Road. It seems like just yesterday I was writing about our second birthday, reminiscing about that now infamous first post . But a lot has happened in a year! I moved to the exciting metropolis of Idaho and Lee moved (well, over a year ago) to boring, drab New York City. But we're still doing our best to bring you great music and commentary. Speaking of which, the real people to thank are you, the readers! We can't do it without your support, this is [...]

Knox Road partners with new label Walk-In Records; Magic City first signed artist
I've been hinting at some KR news these past few weeks, and now it's coming to you live. We at Knox Road have teamed up with a new label, Walk-In Records , and we couldn't be more excited. What does this "partnership" mean, exactly? Well, Jamie and I can sit on our laurels and do nothing administrative while the hard working crew over at Walk-In Records takes care of business. I'm only slightly joking, but it is pretty much pretty sweet. We'll be helping to promote Walk-In Records' artists (if we enjoy them - which we will, [...]
Bacardi NH7 Weekender by Numbers

Five New TV Comedies You Should Be Downloading
We at NH7 watch a lot of TV. But not on TV. If you, like us, can't wait for new shows to be imported by Torrentz, and spend any available internet bandwidth for the sole purpose of expanding your well-catalogued collection of TV shows and movies (preferably on an external hard-disk, that someone's currently borrowed from you, you know who you are - leechers), then you're always on the lookout for new late night, laptop programming. 2011 has not been a great year for new comedies. With a spate of deserved cancellations, failed experiments [...]
Fly On The Wall: Volume 3
Fly On The Wall is our pick of the best Indian indie live videos posted by bands, fans, and flies on the wall. Cyanide @ Blitzkrieg, IIT Delhi If ever you've wanted to see an example of amateur camera work at a gig, this is the video you've been waiting for. The recording is meant for Cyanide's website and the gaffes are almost endearing. Starting with the hilariously random choice of soda-being-poured-into-glass sample being used in the beginning, to the cameraman losing focus for about 30 seconds, there [...]
Ghostly Discovery App for iPhone Is Frighteningly Good
I've become a bit of an Applications, or apps, nut recently. There are some pretty amazing music making, and discovery apps out there. Soundcloud and Spotify lead the way in the sharing and discovery department, but there are many others with a unique and specific approach which help fine-tuned music geeks and those looking for [...]
