So Danny Dance has been sending his music since the time my blog started and I first posted one of his tracks back in January of this year. Well about 6 weeks ago, he introduced me a brand new concept "album." 52 cards in a deck, 52 weeks in a year, and 52 great tracks to come. As Danny describes it: SDHC represents House Music you can dance to, live to, study to, work to, love to, play to, or do anything else to. It's music straight from my heart to yours; a year-long [...]

Its Sunday, more importantly it's Fathers Day - a day I get to do whatever I want (within reason). So my order of business is: Run. Eat. Massage. Shop. Eat. Watch baseball (this might... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]

Whew what a hot week. At least the coming one will supposedly be milder. With the heat came busyness and craziness and of course a few drops of stress. Perhaps the milder temps will produce... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]
Click here to view the embedded video. Remember back in the day when I wrote up a grand ol' artist profile about Old Abram Brown, some youngster New Hampshirites new to the indie music circuit? Everything about Old Abram Brown screams passion. Carson Lund's vocals are earnest and emphatic, as if breaking all barriers of viscosity. Piano holds down the foundation, and the rest of the instruments follow suit with bursts of momentum. I can't help but think these boys are ready for the big time, [...]

Just how cool are the Beastie Boys? Three white, suburban punk rockers turned bothersome, beer-guzzling gatecrashers turned hi-fi aficionados turned Pink Floyd-quoting rap-rockers turned Cthulhu-punching sentai spacemen turned respectable Jewish family men; it's hard not to think of them as accidental visionaries. As Mike D, MCA and Ad-Rock made music callously straddling the line between genius and stupid that eventually crash landed into the former territory, they unknowingly fought the cultural excess of the past three decades. And one of the main reasons why many continue to think of them as the only good thing to come out of the [...]

This is the third installment of my Memorial Day mix. Take a look at the previous two years' mixes here and here (sorry, the mp3s no longer work). We Knox Roadians hope you're all having fantastic Memorial Day weekends. I myself went to a nice BBQ party at the queen of i rock i roll 's place last night. Not too many songs this time, but there should be just enough to satisfy your sweet tooth. Pomegranates - "Everybody, Come Outside!" [MP3] Everybody, Come Outside! [...]
Is it me or is quality of music getting better and better as summer seeps in. The last two weeks I've listened to more quality/favorite albums and singles than in the first 5 months of the... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]

Whether you love them or loathe them, Kings Of Leon provide a great hybrid of Soul and Rock and there music resume is quite impressive, so it was quite a treat to see the live special "VH1 Storytellers" and to hear the inspiration behind some of there big hits. You can watch the documentary in full above. Thanks CloserToKOL for the upload!

The explosion of low-priced digital cameras has all but eliminated the barriers to entry for many fields of photography. As the intersection of people that love music, come to gigs, and own a DSLR/point-and-shoot/mobile phone/ tablet (?!) continues to increase, the number of people shooting live music in India has increased exponentially over the past decade, especially in the last 2-3 years. It won't be long before this influx of photogs starts interfering with the business of live music. Around the world, the solution to this problem is the three-song rule (introduced by Springsteen or Zeppelin around [...]
Its been a hot second since the last one of these collections, but here I am again blasting out the songs that make me smile as of late. Its a pretty eclectic selection this time 'round so... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]
Ohhh, this is always a fun game. Many people think that the best music comes from the year that they were born. Well, step aside every other year...1979 just took first place. I mean, how can you argue with the tail end of motown, the birth of punk, ska and hip hop with a bundle of classics wrapped into one year. I know I am forgetting some amazing songs (Pink Floyd, The Cars, The Ramones...Journey)...these are just some of my favourites. Enjoy! Free mp3: Clash - Train in Vain [...]
