Spider Bags "Take It Easy Tonite" Spider Bags' new single will be out in two days (Tuesday, Oct. 19), so I'm getting this post in just under the wire. I'm ashamed to admit that the band has been around since at least 2005 and I've only just heard of them. I'd say using anything with the word "country" to describe this Chapel Hill-based band is pushing it, but the song is a fun-filled post-hangover anthem, and I'm definitely looking forward to hearing more. Let's hope Spider Bags' next release is a live album ... because even though their recorded output is good, it pales in comparison to their live show. On record they're restrained, and tend to let their alt-country influences take over. Live they're a raw, bluesy garage rock tornado, whooping and hollerin' and rolling on the ground. If you like The Loners or The Trousers (and I love both), you will totally dig Spider Bags . Here's video from last night's Double Barrel benefit at the Pour House.
