Spinal Tap - Stonehenge - The most amazing bloopers are here
Great movie, even better scene... if you haven't seen Spinal Tap then put that one at the top of your New Years Resolution's list. But as far as music goes I'd like to take a bit of time and let you guys know exactly what bands I feel "went to eleven" this year. These are [...]
I would be remiss if I let 11/11/11 pass without acknowledging the profound cultural influence of Spinal Tap 's legendary guitarist, Nigel Tufnel. Sure, his solos were his trademark, but he doesn't get nearly enough credit for rediscovering the saddest of all keys (D minor) in all its Machian splendor. And who else but Nigel dared ask, "What's wrong with being sexy?" However, if one Tufnelian contribution stands above all others in the Western canon, it was his emotional bravery to suggest that at our best, we can all go to 11. [...]

It's 11-11-11 and Nigel Tufnel Day is being celebrated the world over! In honor of this legendary musician's contributions to rock 'n roll , we bring you Nigel and his beloved band Spinal Tap to you fine Waved Rumor readers. From Nigel's Wikipedia page : Tufnel was born in Squatney, east London. He was given his first guitar, a sunburst 'Rhythm King', by his father at six. His life changed when he met David St Hubbins (Michael McKean) who lived next door. They began jamming together [...]
Filed under: News Ebet Roberts, Redferns It's a day that was years in the making. A day so specific and so loud that it only occurs every hundred years. Today on 11/11/11 we celebrate heavy metal's most infamous guitarist, Nigel Tufnel . For those of you that don't know the incredibly ambitious axe man, here's a bit of history. Back in 1984, an underground mockumentary starring Christopher Guest , Harry Shearer and Michael McKean [...]

Because it's 11/11/11 11:11, I couldn't resist.

None More Eleven: A Spinal Tap Appreciation Event On the historic evening of 11/11/11, musicians from the rock, pop, soul, metal, jazz, classical, & experimental worlds will present a tribute to the sights, sounds, and smells of a hard-working rock band on the road. The night will feature literal adapations of Tap classics, non-literal deconstructions of Tap failures, world premieres of never performed Tap "lost gems", and lots and lots of exploding drummers. Featuring performances by Julee Cruise ("Twin Peaks"), Chris Butler (The Waitresses), Mike Fornatale (The Left Banke/The Monks), Joe McGinty [...]
The only video you need to watch today.
Everyone seems so excited for "Nigel Tufnel Day" that I figured it'd be a good enough reason to share this video of Spinal Tap playing "Big Bottom" with just about every bassist at Live Earth.
An eclectic mix of eleven tunes for the day that's in it.
It's becoming more and more likely that America's most beloved animated family, The Simpsons , won't return to the airwaves next year. After an epic run of 23 seasons, the now legendary TV show is facing its demise because it is no longer profitable. Even if its voice actors take a huge pay cut -- more on that at Huffington Post -- The Simpsons simply won't be making money for its network, Fox. So upon hearing this (for some) earth-shattering news, we took it upon ourselves to create a list of the top [...]

Hand's stamped and beers ready the Hope crowd prepared for a night of rock n roll, punk and whole lot in between. Headlining were the newly signed Various Cruelties, setting out on their UK tour off the back of an impressive festival season, having also supported the likes of Mumford & Sons and The Vaccines, evidence they're as well connected as they are talented. The night kicked off with local Worthing lads Chemical Smile thrashing it out in their floral patterned attire. Images of an Ordinary Boys all grown down came flashing past your eyes, only spurred on [...]
Maynard James Keenan's Puscifer project has debuted its video for "Man Overboard" over at Rolling Drone, and I'm feeling pretty conflicted about it. 'Cause on the one hand, it's not every day we see a CG animated steam punk video, and I applaud Maynard for continuing to at least make an attempt to venture into [...]

From time to time I'll seek out music in my second language (Spanish) and end up with some fairly amazing results. With riffs straight from the best Tarantino films, Guadalupe Plata screams in from Spain, reminding you to yield to heavy blues guitar. This is blues rock that makes Jack White look like John Tesh . What's that? I couldn't hear you. No. Really. I cranked my speakers all the way up to 11( Travis Porter /Spinal Tap anyone?), and I can't hear a thing. Download: Guadalupe [...]

Tonight I'm posting the third and final installment in a series of three devoted to the music-based films of Christopher Guest & company: This is Spinal Tap (1980s heavy metal), Waiting for Guffman (stage musical), and A Mighty Wind (1950s/1960s folk). They are some of my favorite movies, and with music so funny and so well done, I thought they'd be great for further discussion as part of the Scenes & Songs feature. This one goes to 11!

Wheeeeew, big news courtesy of SPIN . A whole slew of distinguished artists will be getting together to create a tribute album for Buddy Holly . Artists contributing covers to this project include The Black Keys, Modest Mouse, Julian Casablancas (of The Strokes) and....... ah hell just read the image above and you'll get a good idea of what this album is about. Honouring the late great Buddy Holly, who died at 22 in a Minnesota plane crash with the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens on [...]
Let's not kid ourselves: our national fiscal house isn't anything close to in order these days. By all rights, our government should be shut down right now. Congress is perpetually fighting tooth and
