It was nearly one year ago today that Fat Possum made the announcement that they had signed Spiritualized to their label . Now, a year later, the wait is nearly over for Spiritualized 's 7th album, Sweet Heart Sweet Light , to be released. Historically, Spiritualized has had two primary modes of conduct: the trademarked, baptismal epics – for example, the born-again sprawl of "Wont Get to Heaven (The State I'm In)" – and the ribald, rebellious rockers, which are also epic but toward an altogether different end, that is, J. Spaceman et al actively collapsing into themselves, everyone entrenched not in holy water, but in their own terrestrial perspiration. This, of course, is to speak very loosely of Spiritualized's entire oeuvre, and, as exhibited by their new single, "Hey Jane," the band has no trouble mixing its moistures. Like most Spiritualized fans, I can imagine Jason Pierce's cold stare piercing the Internet and the legions of bedroom-pop acts that have seemingly ignored their parents record collections and art-rock standards. Once again, frontman Justin Vernon worked with Nabil Elderkin, who also directed Bon Iver's Icelanderiffic "Holocene" video. Spritualized drops a new track from its forthcoming album, Sweet Heart Sweet Light . Currently, the album is looking at an April 16th release date on Double Six Records . As it's to be expected, this English band has pulled together another mint piece of psych rock opus. The track starts with some straightforward garage rock guitars matched with a warm bassline. Has it really been four years since "Songs in A&E?" Spiritualized is back with a a new album slated to be released April 16 and listen to the first taste off of the album, "Hey Jane." A little more rollicking than what we're use to from J Spaceman. I still get goosebumps thinking about their last show here in Denver at the Ogden. Don't believe me?
