I don't care what your stuck-up friend in Chicago says. If this record was made by some pasty kid in his bedroom, it would get a something-high-point-something -else. Sure, it's not be on the level of Gimme Fiction or Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga , but jeez, that's a pretty ridiculous standard to hold a record to. Best enjoyed with headphones. Spoon - Written In Reverse from Transference

Spoon take it up a notch, for better of for worse with their newest release, "Transference"

For those of you who have been living under a rock the last few months: Spoon put out a new album. It's called Transference . Better late than never, eh? Take a listen to the single, Written in Reverse. Buy the new album, Transference . Get their music: Amazon | iTunes Visit them online: Official | Myspace
Lots of music videos popping up lately - too many to keep up with as a matter of fact. Conveniently, most of these come courtesy of Pitchfork , among other places. I guess you could call this a lazy attempt at a blog post, but it's better than nothing. The videos can be viewed after the cut, and include new stuff from Jonsi , St. Vincent , Spoon , Toro Y Moi and Massive Attack . Jonsi [...]

So I haven't actually heard this record yet, but I did notice it around the cash register the other day and was quite intrigued. Check out the list of performers below, it's pretty indie-tastic! Sweetheart by Starbucks Entertainment Great performers cozy up with the songs that make them gush on our exclusive annual collection of love songs. Track List: 1. "Hand on Your Heart" - José González Originally recorded by Kylie Minogue 2. "Cupid" - Grand Archives Originally recorded by Sam [...]
It's funny, I used to lump Spoon in with bands like the Gin Blossoms ... I don't think anyone wants to be lumped in with the Gin Blossoms. My apologies, Mr. Daniel. I put Britt Daniel more in the Jeff Tweedy school of making music that is beautiful and sometimes a little weird and cranky. Take the first single off the band's latest Transference . "Written In Reverse" is sweet and spastic, and the video is in black and white and features a large mirror. And you [...]

Spoon have premiered the music video for " Written In Reverse ". The track is off the band's latest album, ' Transference '. The music video was directed by Danny Clinch . ' Transference ' is out now. Spoon
In case you missed the premiere Friday on Pitchfork , Spoon has released a video for "Written in Reverse." It was shot by Danny Clinch in black and white, with the band performing the song against a large mirror. ... Oh, I get it. The tune is the first single from the Austin outfit's seventh album, "Transference," a record that so far has failed to grab me 'round the throat like its previous four albums. Which is a pretty mild complaint, considering how high Spoon has set the bar. ||| Live: Spoon [...]
Director Danny Clinch recently shot a live black and white noir video for Spoon 's new single "Written in Reverse," from the band's recently released Transference LP. Britt Daniel sounds a little more distraught here than he did on Conan O'Brien 's Tonight Show finale , coming off a little more raw and forward than before. The group is currently on the European leg of their tour, but will be hitting up the Southeastern States later this month. Local fans can catch the band with [...]
Still undecided about the new Spoon album, or rather where it fits into the hierarchy of their discography. It is, by no means, disappointing. Here's the video for "Written in Reverse," which in some respects is the most Spoon-y of songs on Transference. [ via ]

When you listen to Transference by Spoon , the most accessible experimental indie band in business today, you might say, "Wow!" Of course, you might also say, "This will be a great album when they finish it." Transference has all the elements you expect: Urgent vocals, metaphysical and/or obtuse lyrics, a driving, pulsating beat, tight musicianship, distortion . . . And yet it's very different from what they've done before. There's no question that Spoon can craft perfect pop songs, but here songs suddenly stop or break left, suddenly and without warning. It reminds [...]
Here's the music video for Spoon's "Written In Reverse" off Transference . Very basic concept here: get band together, play song, shoot in black and white. Shrug. Pigeons and Planes

Spoon premired their music video on pitchfork yesterday, and I finally got around to watching it. It is a cool video, actually recorded the live take of the song, and used a big mirror to get a cool effect of the band playing. A really simple idea, done right. Spoon just radiate cool. I cannot wait to see them live at Radio City!!! :
"Written In Reverse" Music Video Spoon 's first single off Transference now has a music video. Instead of using the studio cut for "Written In Reverse", the band opted to use a live recording that gives the video a truer and more realistic feel to it. Capturing Spoon's energy and swagger, this music video works on so many levels, and excites me for the two Seattle gigs later this spring. Stream :: Spoon's new album Transference here . [...]

Seven new tracks stampeded the chart this week and the top spot is no "mystery zone". Spoon owns the number one track with The Mystery Zone off their recent Transference . The biggest gainer from last week belongs to [...]
from Spoon's latest album, 'Transference', "Written in Reverse". Spoon - Peace Like a River (Paul Simon)
Obrigado Spoon por existir.
The most raucous song on the year's best album-so-far gets a simple, black-and-white performance treatment. (Via Pitchfork )
