Britt Daniel and Jim Eno of Spoon interviewing mastering engineer Howie Weinberg, who mastered their album, Transference. Funny stuff, in an inside kinda way. You can tell the guys in Spoon think he's hilarious and want to share that with everyone else. So, here's a demo of "Utilitarian" that Britt Daniel came across while packing up his stuff to move. Maybe he came across this video as well,

These mixes were posted in January and February 2010, the winter of our discontent. Seriously, the blog was on life support during this time. We're through that storm now. 2010 was such a great year for music, and these early mixes show why. Many of the tracks were available in late 2009, but appeared on 2010 releases. Tracks are from late October through late November 2009 Gapless mix ripped at 256k VBR. Download all tracks in one zip file [...]

This is a vigorous nod towards the folks over at Under The Radar Magazine, whose staff often list their favorite songs of their month accompanied with nonsensical pictures, and a further chin tilt to our beloved Allison over at Radio Potato who displays her seasonal finds on the regular. These are the (secret) songs that [...]
I remember getting way into Feist's studio album The Reminder back in 2007. She had this entirely unique, melodic sound that had me listening to the album all the way through consistently. Thanks to Hypem, this remix of "I Feel It All" was just introduced to me, and it's got me in the mood to check out The Reminder all over again. The dude from Spoon is the man behind this remix, and while he doesn't transform the sound of the track, he adds a little pep in the otherwise relaxing listen. The New Amsterdams - Wears So Thin Sharon Van Etten - Coming Home Whenever I'm visiting my 'rents, my mother steals whatever books I have on me. Sometimes she tells me what she thinks after, sometimes not. I still haven't figured out if she's trying to gauge what sort of human I've become or just enjoys reading. One snowy Michigan winter a few years ago, she quickly finished my copy of Bring Me Your Saddest Arizona by Ryan Harty. She handed it back over the [...]
