On Thursday the 29 th of March 2012 I wake up with my alarm at six a.m. and swing my legs over the side of the bed. I tamp the roof of my mouth with my tongue, a sponge a few minutes off drying. Oxford has form when it comes to birthing important bands: from influential noisegaze pioneers Ride, through the sadly defunct Supergrass , always in the kitchen at the Britpop party, to Radiohead , who not content with redefining the scope of modern rock several times, have seen fit to bless the world with a number of excellent solo works. Recently, revivalist dance-pop BBC Introducing favourites Fixers and math-rock futurists Foals have been upholding the reputation of the city of the dreaming spires. Tonight sees the latest in this distinguished bloodline of musicians hit Newcastle. [...]

There is something completely loveable about Oxford five-piece Spring Offensive . The music they make has that rare ability to be heartfelt but never saccharine, instant but always inventive. Listening to the band will more than likely lead to you wanting to scream the bands name from the nearest rooftop, however if the quality of their output continues in the same vein as latest single Worry Fill My Heart then there won't be a need for such drastic measures. Introducing to you Oxford's Spring Offensives . The 5 piece have a knack for lovely melodies, dark lyricism, and creative riffs. We posted the striking video for Spring Offensive's " Carrier " last month, and now we've got a new one for "Worry Fill My Heart." It turns out these guys make some pretty good videos. The Oxford group learned some sign language for this one. They also shot one scene involving a bow and arrow that could have gone terribly wrong, but luckily only three people died during the making of this video. Just kidding, just kidding, it was only that bro on the left who died. RIP.

Spring Offensive is a five-piece band from Oxford, UK, that cites such acts as Death Cab for Cutie as one of their influences. Because I just haven't quite done enough posts about Oxford downbeatsmiths Spring Offensive , here's their latest video, for the song Carrier . In the wake of the song, any sort of précis or admission of admiration and belief seems to come across as reductive or mawkish respectively, and besides, fellow Oxford act Aethara seem to have summed it up pretty well already.
