We just wanna stand next to Hunx and His Punx in the hopes that some of their cool will rub off on us. For that matter, same goes for the rest of the lineup at Spring tonight - D. Watusi , Natural Child and Diarrhea Planet all a killer Monday make. Think of this as a pre-show show for Diarrhea Planet's record release, only better. Check back soon for a review of Loose Jewels , out Sept. 20.

phil cordell - "red lady" (download) "Red Lady" was the B-side to Springwater member Phil Cordell 's 1969 single "Pumping the Water." This song was way ahead of its time. For a while now, I've thought the drum beat was the result of some sort of DJ edit, but it's not. You can check out more of his stuff here .

Filed under: News , New Music , Exclusive With summer right around the corner, Ratatat 's Mike Stroud was nice enough to compile a 10-song mix tape for Spinner. The compilation is a quick 30 minutes of classic rock, hip-hop and rare grooves that fans would expect from an experienced electro-rock musician. Stroud and partner Evan Mast are no strangers to the mixtape game -- they've self-released the fan favorites 'Ratatat Remix Volume 1' and 'Ratatat Remix Volume 2,' which are hip-hop-oriented mixes that work [...]

The Sun just rose for the first time in 6 months on September 22nd, and is now visible in the sky all the time. Recent studies in Antarctica have brought new insights into the origins of deep sea octopus species (a 30 million-year-old ancestor from Antarctic waters), volcanic contributions to disappearing antarctic ice, and the effects of increasing numbers of icebergs scouring the seafloor. This song went Top 5 in the UK in 1971. Can you imagine something like this charting these days? Like Ratatat's Cherry in the Top 5 maybe? What a world that would be. Remember the future in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure? Where t he music of Wyld Stallyns has brought peace and harmony and we live in crystalline quarters filled with drifting new-age metal guitar leads? Let's make it happen. Springwater- I Will Return
