Squarepusher is coming to the NYC-area for Camp Bisco , which goes down this year from July 11 to 13 at the Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, NY with Passion Pit, Animal Collective, Toro y Moi, El-P & Killer Mike , Baauer, Ryan Hemsworth, Dan Deacon, Danny Brown, and more. Right before that though, Squarepusher will play his own show in NYC at Le Poisson Rouge on July 9 . It's a much more intimate show than his 2012 show at Terminal 5 , [...]
It's eerie how frequently one thing can lead to another in terms of exposing any which artist opening up your very own outlook to a vortex of likeminded musicians, and that's precisely what occurred after we yesterday featured the quietly sublime Koloto . In its wake trailed a couple emails from acquaintances and/ or affiliates of Maria Sullivan, the pick of which would surely be the produce of inscrutable UK producer Ekoda Map . It's again a stylistic mode which is more closely aligned with so-called organica than it is electronica I suppose, in that manipulable gadgetry merely [...]
There's no negating electronic musics being at their best when they're powered by those most cerebral capacities of the human brain, just as there's no doubting the disparate genres thereof now approaching a point of absolute saturation. It's precisely why Daphni is preferable to Modeselektor, or why Pick a Piper pips Gold Panda in the stakes of immediate intrigue. And playing into that same richly academic school of thought, production value and so forth is Canterbury's Koloto , or rather Maria Sullivan to put a name to the otherwise isolated nom de plume. Sullivan tinkers with [...]
It's a bad wind that don't blow somebody some good, or so the hackneyed old adage goes and so it seems on a blustery Camden eve for Barry – the solitary inhabitant of a nearby phone box perma-clad in sunglasses even at this, the death of night. He's his eight cans of Special Brew, and a wicked tongue with which to lap them up – a devilish flicker of beard protruding forth form his chinny chin chin. It's hideously chilly out as we draw close to midnight, and yet there's an inexhaustible hope hidden deep within him as he spacks [...]

The Mothers of Reivention I've been listening to the new David Bowie album a lot recently, mainly trying to figure out exactly what all the fuss is about. Sadly despite numerous, hyperbolic press reports that he had all but single handedly saved music, I'm yet to be convinced The Next Day is anything other than a fairly decent rock album. It's a verdict that I'm sure is keeping him awake at night, but reading between the lines of even the most enthusiastic reviews you can't help but think many of them [...]

It's been ages since we've heard anything new from Ghostpoet , but it seems fitting that he would make a return in 2013 as the number of impeccable electronic releases so far this year are astounding. "Meltdown" is off of his forthcoming sophomore album Some Say I So I Say Light and has received a gorgeous reworking from Squarepusher . The new version leaves more space for his vocals to breathe, and accentuates the melancholy. For comparison's sake, check out the original here . The single is [...]

Warp Records luminary Squarepusher has remixed, " Meltdown ," the excellent first single from Ghostpoet's forthcoming album, taking the gently mumbled mournfulness of the original and launching it into space. With the addition of rumbling bass and brooding synths, the remix is many times more epic than the original, whilst retaining the same sense of brooding isolation. "Meltdown," the first single from Ghostpoet's sophomore album Some Say I So I Say Light, will be released May 6.

YAYYYYYYYYY!!! Squarepusher has delivered an exceptional sonic overhaul of Ghostpoet 's Meltdown , which will be available on 10” alongside the single, exclusively for this year’s Record Store Day.
The festival that's become an electronic music pilgrimage has just released phase 3 of its massive lineup! Detroit's Movement Festival is arguably the most important in the Eastern Hemisphere, possibly in the world, and this portion of the lineup solidifies the gravity of the event. Influential producers Cajmere and Squarepusher are must-sees, as are seasoned DJs like Bill Patrick and Francois K that symbolize all that is forward-thinking in music today. Berlin techno gets an extra push with an appearance by Deadbeat , Chuck Daniels rounds out a strong Detroit [...]

Never went a bundle over Ghost Poet's stuff when his Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholy Jam album came out a couple of years back. But this new collaboration with Squarepusher is rather fine. It's all very reminiscent of Roots Manuva's electronic explorations. This crash and bloop and meanwhile Ghost Poet remembers a relationship gone wrong. Blurb: A total sonic overhaul of 'Meltdown' by Warp Records dignitary Squarepusher. The first single to be taken off the new album 'Some Say I So I Say Light' - out May 6th. Squarepusher, one of the UK’s most important electronic artists has [...]

Along with being one of my favorite singles of the moment, Ghostpoet 's " Meltdown " is a source of inspiration for fellow U.K. resident Squarepusher. Yes, the renown producer has taken on the languid, melodic tune and put his own spin on it. While that might lead you to believe the results would be manic and other-worldly, the strong melody of the original remains in tact here. The same goes for Ghostpoet's longing vocals, which are now outfitted with some bright synthesizers and rightly timed drum bursts. Listen below.
For reasons as to which we're still as yet unsure, we took a technophobe along to Sónar last year and that which stuck with him most adhesively was not the tinnitus, nor the ineluctable exhaustion incurred by unending euphoria, nor indeed anything to be even translucently deemed techno but instead the dissonance Tom Jenkinson so concertedly strives to contrive. He came home and diligently read up on the almighty disharmony he'd been subjected to but days before, and became transfixed by a BBC interview during which Jenkinson confessed to feelings of disgust toward "the overt [...]

>> Veteran Philly-based indie pop concern Dangerous Ponies are knee-deep in the hoopla of a massive, six-week spring tour to promote its latest release, the EP Tenderheart . The four-song collection, produced and co-engineered by ex- Algernon Cadwallader guitarist Joe Reinhart, includes the title track as well as the tunes "Sparks," "California" and "Dogfite," and it was released digitally March 8. Tenderheart will be released on 7" vinyl March 27, just days before the collective founded and fronted by Chrissy Tashjian blows into Boston for what will surely be a barn-burner of a show [...]

Officially remix Squarepusher and win limited limited vinyl and headphones! Remix competitions are fair fodder these days without any sort of allure to them - a start-up producer can find themselves neck-deep in stems before you can say abelton . That changes slightly when it comes to remixing electronic OG Squarepusher, who is offering just that! Mr Jenkinson is throwing down the challenge to take on the pulsating bruiser that is "40013 (stream below) taken from his most recent 'Ufabulum' release. Winners will be judged by the man himself and get [...]
