It's good to see Tom Jenkinson's return to Squarepusher's dark acid side still sounds as weird in 2012 as it ever did, perhaps even more so after a few years of aggressive nu-dubstep drops and hyper-charged electronic music. It's the gigantic synth line that takes this track away from excursions into digital noise rhythm, inflecting the track with an opulence and ominous atmosphere. Synths that sound like road vehicles in hi-octane mode make 'Dark Steering' would fit perfectly into the Tron: Legacy soundtrack. Tom Jenkinson gives his own explanation of the track after the jump. This is a surprising video from  Squarepusher . I had to double take to check if it was really him. This track, " Dark Steering"  is taken from his forthcoming album " Ufabulum ". It's almost like he is doing his own interpretation of Daft Punk or something. This is definitely not one of those cheap wannabe Daft Punk knock-offs though. You can still hear the 'warp sounds' ( Warp the label, not "whoop whoop" ) and of course, the production is rather good. Producer Tom Jenkinson, a.k.a. Squarepusher, has just released a full track and music video from his forthcoming album, Ufabulum , which will be out in May on Warp. New Squarepusher video just went up today. Hot damn. The teaser has been floating around for a minute now and now that the official video is out we're even more excited for his Ufabulum album to drop on May 14th. Warp Records has put together a few different packages for the album. Of course there's a special edition vinyl pack. Burning Man for tech-loving hipsters? Absolutely. The Creators Project brought innovative works of visual and musical artists to life at SF's Fort Mason Center.

Vice & Intel's Creators Project - you'll recall NYC incarnation from late last year - made its way out to the Bay this weekend for a West Coast version of the festival held in San Francisco's Fort Mason Center. Wilson Lee was there to document the music aspects of the event, which featured the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Zola Jesus, Squarepusher, Shabazz Palaces, HEALTH, Teen Daze, a DJ set by James Murphy/LCD Soundystem and more. Just because half of the music blog world, including many Spinning Platterers (Spinning Platypuses?), are off in Austin at SXSW doesn't mean that the music stops up here in the Bay Area.
