In reference to the 'angry white boy' statement made in my Guilty Pleasure article a while back, there was a time when I would have paid $15 to buy Break The Cycle by Staind . Despite the power of Dysfunction's "Mudshovel" or Break the Cycle's over played single, "Outside" - it is safe to say that the 90s was the peak of Aaron Lewis' melancholy rock ensemble known as Staind . After trying a more positive approach with certain tracks on 14 Shades Of Gray , and even coming [...]

WORLD PREMIERE MUSIC: Staind's latest emerges at Midnight SPRINGFIELD, MA: We have made our mark writing about great indie rock bands from all over the world, but its not like us to ignore the music releases from one of our great locals either. Hardly a new act - Staind has sold an unbelievable 15 Million records since 1995. These Massachusetts homeboys release, "The [...]
A lot of great releases this week, although no big names to back them up. The indie and electronica scene is particularly popular this time of year. Staind is possibly the biggest name out of the list, with more then 15 million records sold during their 12 year career, but the last two studio efforts have been overshadowed with a severe case of mediocrity. Whether this new album can actually redeem their past failures and get them back in the spot light is hard to say, especially since I haven't sampled one track, but I guess, for [...]

Dany and Rusty are in hiding an undisclosed remote fortified compound this week. Be Your Own Pet have announced that they are going their separate ways. [...]
We've gotta hand it to 2008, so far so good. Since January, we've come across some fairly amazing albums , and with new releases from Deerhoof, Of Montreal, The Cure and many others on the horizon ( and not even mentioning the Walkmen's amazing new You & Me , kinda sorta unofficially released last week), the rest of the year seems just as strong, right? Well, not so fast. While browsing through a few upcoming release calendars, we've come across our fair share of land mines lurking in the cabbage patch. Buyer beware! [...]

Many people find it hard to tell the great from the godawful when it comes to 21st-century mainstream rock. To help figure out which is which, here's "Corporate Rock Still Sells," where Al "GovernmentNames" Shipley examines what's good, bad, and ugly in the world of rock and roll. This time around, he looks at an eight-years-in-the-making hit by an act that was once seen as a rap-rock also-ran, as well as a few other developments on the rock radio charts. In 2000, a band from Georgia named Rehab was [...]

After getting some work out of the way Will called me from the MOMA and was like get over here. He told me to take a cab. It was three in the afternoon and stopped traffic all along Park and Fifth. I finally just got out and walked. The cabbie said, "I don't feel right charging you ten dollars." I didn't even know what to say to him I was so disgusted. Once I showed up at the museum, everything was quickly copacetic. Will spent about ten minutes figuring out what exactly what we were going to see, then we went straight to the cafe. [...]

We are sitting around the dining room table. The wife and her friend are gossiping and I am listening to the iPod. Suddenly, this song starts. I had totally forgotten it was on the iPod. I know Staind sucks and I know the radio played it into the dirt. They may still be playing it for all I know but I gotta admit....I like the song. Staind - It's Been a While

We are set for some great hard rock music in Jackson, Mississippi this weekend. Thanks to our local Radio station 93.9 and Miller Lite. The stages will be filled with a mixture of local talent and some top nationally known bands. Hard rock may seem out of place to some in Mississippi, but, there are a lot more rockers here than anyone can imagine. For local Jackson radio station Rock 93.9 , simply playing the latest and greatest in hard rock isn't enough. It's about making Jackson a better place for rock fans. - [...]
