TYCHO, ACTIVE CHILD, LORD HURON ( Doug Fir , 830 E Burnside) Scott Hansen, AKA the man behind the evocative, calming beats of Tycho, is not just a musician; he's a visual artist as well, operating under the moniker ISO50. That means tonight's Tycho show will be a feast for the ears and eyes, as he injects an immersive and prismatic experience right up into your brain. A million amazing records are released on Record Store Day, but a particular highlight for is Starfucker 's white vinyl release, titled Heaven's Youth . What's so special about this release, I hear you cry? Well Heaven's Youth was the original title of their 2011 album Reptilians , before they edited it down and beefed it up. For RSD they're releasing the 'demos' album, complete with new artwork. Amazing. You can check out the tracklisting from here , and 'Death as a Fetish' below.

March Madness just ended and all of you bracketologists out there are probably pretty sad you'll have to until next year to get your bracketology on, but don't fret! Back for a second year by popular demand, in a move that is sure to establish itself as a Portland institution - it's Rigsketball ! If you're late to the game, Rigsketball is halfcourt, 3v3 basketball played on a regulation hoop attached to the back of a van, just about anywhere the cops won't bust the party. However, when played in a bracket-style tournament with 32 of Portland's most ballin' [...]

Scheiße man, seitdem ich mich wie ein tollwütiges Viech an Redial festgebissen habe plätschert mir bei jedem Drop die Schaumflut aus dem Mund. So 'ne Ravewut macht einem wirklich zu Schaffen. Ich w...

Starfucker - Mystery Cloud Everybody should do in their lifetime, sometime, two things. One is to consider death. To observe scowls and skeletons and to wonder what it will be like to go to sleep and never wake up. Ever. That is a very gloomy thing for contemplation, but it's like manure. Just as manure fertilizes the plants and so on, so the contemplation of death and the acceptance of death is very highly generative for creating life. You'll get wonderful things out of that. Our brains create [...]
There comes a time in everyone's musical journey where no matter how much you love a certain style or genre, you end up finding yourself seeking new sounds and listening less and less to what you once thought would be your favorite artist for years to come. I myself have hit such a divide, and think it's time to open up my scope of music I not only listen to, but share with all of you, too. Slightly off the beaten path of beat/bass driven electro comes a tune I haven't been able to get out of my head by [...]
Starfucker Hailing from Portland, Oregon, this crassly named ensemble are clearly out to be noticed, picking their title just to see how far they can get "with a stupid name like that." Rather far, it would appear. Their 2008 track Ronald Gregory The Second is light-hearted yet intricate indie pop, perhaps the kind that Beck would be making if he bothered to make stuff again. The video is quite suitably Monty Python do pop art. Click here to view the embedded video. Released last year, Mona Vegas reveals a more [...]

Suicide Sundaes - Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen, Sunday is back with a vengeance. Greg is here again to bring you the weeks dirty servings, and some old favorites through a throwdown-throwback to simpler times. A time when bangers were big, remixes were bigger, the bassline bled, and we didn't care about anything as long as came in kicking and left screaming. This week I'm trying to go for something similar in the flow and organization I had last week. Starting you guys off with some of the "tamer" tracks of the bunch (of [...]

Sydney based bass brothers and notorious night club runners Starfucker's have release a dirty electronic bangor titled 'Make it drop'. The EP which has been released on their own imprint 'House of fun' is a 5 track cruncher with remixes from Anger Dimmas, Redial and Night Dimension. Thick in noise and relentless in bass, this is the type of track that will wake you up from your pass out in the corner of a club for some impromptu, inexplainable head banging. Starfuckers - Make It Drop (Radio Edit) [...]

We know you lost sleep over the course of last month, waiting patiently, racking your brain to see what we could possibly list as our favorite albums of 2011. We lost sleep too, compulsively checking our lists twice and perhaps after a fist fight or two, we settled on 25 firm choices. After all, who listens to as much music as us? Who actually has time to listen to put together a valid top 25 list with no filler? We're fairly certain that most other sites don't include at least a handful of the albums listed on none other [...]

I was a little hesitant on compiling a list of my favorite non-electro heavy tracks for 2011. It seemed like most blogs had the gist of what mine would look like and, for the most part, I didn't have too much to add. But I decided to sack it up and do it anyway because (1) I wanted to keep track for future reference and (2) I did manage to find some real gems in here. I also tried to make it all flow together Instead of just a random list of favorites, so [...]

Well, it's a little later than last year but it's time again to turn the music down and put on your art-critic monocles and top hats. Yes, in a year where some heavy hitters came along with some high quality production, I did my best to highlight of few of the lesser known 'other' artists involved in completing the full album package. Just like the last two years ( 2009 , 2010 ), my discriminating eye is looking for quality in a holistic sense when it comes to album artwork. Essentially my main question is whether or not it [...]
