
In 1997 locals, Tommy Conwell, John Flynn, Philly Gumbo, and others contributed to Season's Greetings Philadelphia , an 18-song compilation of local musicians recording original Christmas songs. The collection was released on the local Record Cellar Records label. In the late '90s and early '00s, hard-working Philly foursome Stargazer Lily straddled the boundaries between coffee-shop folk, Khyber Pass rock-n-roll, and alternative radio pop. They called it quits in 2005 after three full-length albums, a twangy country EP (under the name Starlazer Gilly), and countless late-night, boozy performances at what was then called The Grape Street Pub.
