I can't believe it's already December! The last few months increasingly have felt as if they were picking up speed, I don't even feel like November happened. That's time i guess. I think you'll be happy with this weeks selection, I know I am and that usually translates well. . . Download: Jesse Payne - [...]
Halloween is one of our favorite times of year here at InYourSpeakers. The haunting, the vamps, the werewolves, and the naughty nurses all help make the season a spectacle. We know you like to trick or treat, carve pumpkins, or party for All Hallows Eve. Well, you need great tunes to do it. We've put together a playlist that will make the scene jump for a spooktacular good time. Music Player: [...]

And the parade continues... I forget how much fun I had making these. Blogophilia 11 was released in September 2009. If you've been following along, you should have noticed that I am deep in my "Intro" phase for mixes. I am not sure why I stopped that. Maybe that's something to consider for next mix. The highlights for #11 are All the Kings Men by Wild Beasts and Sleep All Summer by The National and Saint Vincent . I apologize for putting the Pete Yorn tune on [...]

Well, we're just about halfway with the reposts... Today, we feature volumes 9 and 10, which were originally posted in August 2009. Volume 10 holds a special place in this blog's history, because that's when Aaron from Tsururadio offered to post the mix on his blog. That started a bit of following and it has grown ever since. Aaron's moved onto Tsuruphoto, following his passion for photography. He now has a nudie-zine featuring some edgy but tasteful art, several videos to promote the zine and Tsuruphoto, and the occasional mixtape. We owe a big thanks for his early support, and [...]

Israeli band Izabo are offering their latest EP as a free download if you 'friend' them on Facebook . This 3-song EP is a scrumptious slice of quirky indie pop; Izabo excel at balmy, buoyant guitar pop songs, with prominent keyboards and kazoo-like background vocals. They favor the Starlight Mints quite a bit, in both their song structures and the vocal timbre of lead singer Ran Shem-Tov, but also incorporate elements of disco and Middle Eastern music. Check Out: [...]

Early one morning (read: as in, the gaudy tramp stamp *above* the butt-crack of dawn), I was seized with a desire to listen to some music that was going to make me happy. I reached one hand out from under the covers and grabbed for my iTouch. I opened the "Remote" app and started my computer's iTunes from bed. I played some Starlight Mints for what I thought was the first time. I thought I had never heard of them before. The name of the album [...]

Get that minty freshness with Sweets Week . A quintessential sweet, Starlight Mints are those classic red and white peppermints that grandma always has in the candy dish. Don't worry, we avoid them too. Luckily, there are some other Starlight Mints we can all enjoy. These Mints are a psych pop band from Norman, OK and they pen songs that have a knack for sticking in my head. This one's no exception. I especially like how this jam incorporates strings [...]
Of Montreal's tenth album is their most accessible yet, offering a meshing of cohesiveness and ambition that coincides with the band's idiosyncratic sound. Kevin Barnes' lyrical variation of humor and serious infliction aid an album that is emotionally demanding, humorously witty, and melodically superb. With help from Jon Brion, it is their best produced and most organic-sounding effort yet.

Over the next couple of weeks, we will be counting down the Top 100 Oklahoma Albums of the 2000s . Every weekday, we will unveil another ten Oklahoma albums that helped shape the way Oklahoma music is heard by the outside world. We asked three dozen musicians, fans and journalists for their opinions on the top albums of the past decade. With their guidance and our own opinions, we compiled what we hope is a decent and fair list. Hopefully, there's a good bit of reflection, discovery and enjoyment when listening to these albums [...]

We'll be doing some house cleaning of our playlists and album reviews as we near year end. We've got a number of album reviews we've stored away and never finished. These are albums we felt merit a review, but just couldn't work them in the schedule. However, we don't want to miss out posting them before year end, because, at the least, they had some very choice cuts of them. By the way, we'll post a complete recap of our favorite albums before year end. [...]

13 Tracks: An Incredibly Unlucky Mix "Once a year on a spooky night, it's Halloween, and what a fright!" In what's surely every dentist's worst nightmare (and eventually best conceived dream), the 31st of every October, here in the United States at least, is laced with the tradition of disguising oneself and begging for sugary, sugary treats. Not wanting to be the lame house on the street that gives away apples and raisins, I've put together this mix consisting of a very unlucky amount of musical sweetness. Stuff these in [...]
