What with Mothers Day and the cup final earlier in the day I have almost managed to spend a whole day without logging into blogger, but alas I just can't resist the temptation of going online. So I have decided that today is as good a day as any to post up some videos that I have been enjoying this week... First off we have a dems new single Inner O, which is released on 2nd April 2012 on Bad Life Recordings... [...]

Y'all is Fantasy Island Under appreciated, is the phrase that springs to mind when anyone mentions now defunct Falkirk outfit, Y'all is Fantasy Island. I am not going to start kidding myself that I wasn't one of the folk that didn't fully appreciate what we had until they were gone. Thanks to Wiseblood Industries we can all do some much needed catching up as they've re-issued the whole of Y'all is Fantasy Island's entire back catalogue digitally for free . This includes five LPs, totalling 55 tracks all in. So if you're not Home Game-ing this weekend, [...]

Forget the jewellery, walk away from the crotchless panties, put down the designer wallet. The best Valentine's Day gifts are the ones where clearly some deep thought has gone into it, an original idea, that special personal touch. Unfortunately, this requires two qualities that not everyone acquired in the gene pool - imagination and creativity - so the next best thing is the trusty custom-made romantic mix CD, which we've just gone and made for you to download and burn onto a single CD-R. As you will no doubt have already [...]

It's time for me to go over my favorite songs for 2009. This list is so awesome it doesn't end at ten. This one goes to eleven. Again, I'm not doing a best of list. These are songs that I had been obsessed with when it was released. The songs [...]
It's that time of years boys n girls for my annual Top 50 Records of 2009, it's time for me to bore you with the albums that have been floating my boat over these past 12 months, some of them I am sure you can predict, others might come as a bit of a shock. I am pretty sure that some of these records came out towards the tail end of 2008, but I didn't come across them until this year so please excuse me, anyway I'll stop rambling and get this part started. 50. Discover [...]

Quite a thin week by recent standards actually, but that's no bad thing. Homegame is approaching and a weekend that is easy on the liver and easy on the wallet will be a very good thing. Plus we have to spend it all making up copies of the new Meursault EP, Nothing Broke. Yes, you heard me right. Terribly exciting, wot. It will mark the first offical outing for crowd favourite William Henry Miller Pt.1, albeit an acoustic version of the song, the full version of which will be available along with The Furnace, The Dirt & the Roots and [...]

The main problem with using YouTube to watch live concerts featuring your favourite bands is that quality control is non-existent. So when you find that beloved Arcade Fire anthem reduced to a two-inch cameraphone screen being held by what seems like an Alzheimer's sufferer doing a Nazi salute, there's a good chance you'll be left feeling a tad underwhelmed. It goes without saying that you'd rather watch live music videos that were closer to a high-definition cinematic experience. It would also be nice if they were filmed by professionals using, say, a couple of dozen cameras simultaneously. And [...]
I ran into this band the other day on a blog somewhere. I'll end up passing up so many bands that I see on various blogs since there's so many out there, and of course most of them aren't very impressive. I'm glad I didn't pass these guys ...

State Broadcasters - Our Favourite Park Folkpop/rock från Glasgow. Sannolikheten att detta kommer att bli lika omtalat som Glasvegas är inte särskilt stor, men bra är det hur som helst. Låten finns på deras debutalbum The Ship and the Iceberg , som släpps i mars.

A few days ago the plug was pulled on Xfm Scotland, thus ending any interest we had in switching on the radio. In a move that makes as much sense as using a vacuum cleaner on a beach, the station's owners (headed by Richard Park, the Fame Academy judge who desperately attempted to pass himself off as the BBC's Simon Cowell) have replaced it with dance-orientated Galaxy Scotland. What makes this decision so inexplicable is that popularity in dance music is at its lowest ebb in decades, while the indie scene has never been [...]

What do Belle & Sebastian , Snow Patrol and Biffy Clyro all have in common (apart from being three of the most popular bands to come out of Scotland's music scene in the past decade)? The answer is that before virtually anyone had even heard of them, they all brought out one-off releases on Electric Honey , the record label run by music industry management students at Glasgow's Stow College. Each year the students sift through dozens of [...]

Tonight the tour bus takes us all the way to Glasgow for a trio of bands who have one foot in Scotland and another on the shores of America. Maybe theres something in the water. First up.... The Attic Lights Style: Indie / Powerpop / Rock From Glasgow, Scotland Purveyors of Glaswegian Americana (Glaswegicana anyone?) The Attics Lights sound like beards, long [...]
