Imagine Saves the Day mixed with Tigers Jaw and Transit; Long Island's State Lines sound like a smooth Indie/Punk blend of the three, but also with their own kick. Formed in 2010, their raw, rustic turns and sharp edges combined with the raspy vocals of singer/songwriter Jonathan Dimitri keep them on the frontlines of today's LI scene. They even dress for the part, hoodies and all! They just recently released their sophomore full-length album titled "For The Boats" via Tiny Engines. You can listen to "Linger below" and three other new songs from the album here , [...]

I'm so ready to get my hands on this new State Lines album. "Kids" is another example of why I LOVE this band so much. This is going to be a really good year for them. Make sure you pick up For The Boats when it drops on April 30th

State Lines are back with another preview of their sure to be stellar new album For The Boats . Stream the anxious and self-aware "Garages" below. Check out an interview frontman Jonathan DiMitri did with AMP here

State Lines are one of my favorite young bands carrying the flag for the new age of raw, emotive punk rock. It only makes sense that they would sign on to one of the fastest growing (and coolest) labels out there in Tiny Engines to release their new album For The Boats . Today they've got a new song streaming which showcases everything that makes these guys so enthralling (yes, neck jerking hip-hop intro included). Stream "Shady Existence" here . [...]

Run, Forever and State Lines are heading out on tour at the beginning of the new year.
There was so much great music released in this year, maybe more than in any other year since I started compiling these lists. Narrowing the list down to just 50 was damn near impossible. In fact, just about everything on the list could be flipped around in some way, but these are what I've decided to go with. I'll be posting 10 of my favorite albums from 2012 each day this week with the top ten on Friday. Much more commentary to come as well. Cheers. 50. The Devil's Own [...]

Hosoi Bros - Snorlokk The Hosoi Bros blew me away earlier this year with their tasty slab of 7"vinyl, "Wine Witch" ( reviewed here ). So much so, that I immediately asked the crazy lads to contribute to our free compilation album, The Ripple Effect Presents: Volume One - Head Music . (go check it out, it's still free.) I was immediately caught up in their trashy brand of post-NWOBHM madness and chunky humor. Still, the question remained, could they do it again? As "Snorlokk" the side A of [...]

State Lines have been consistently magnificent over the past year and a half. I have no doubts they'll continue on that trend with the announcement of their sophomore full-length For The Boats , out January 2013 via Tiny Engines . The band are streaming the first released track from the record. Listen to "Linger" here MORE // 2013 RELEASE NEWS

1. Jemez Mountain Hawkz - "California Bound" (New project from former punk rock band Scared of Chaka members Dameon Lee Waggone and Dave Hernandez (also formerly of the Shins) as well as Drew Church of Little Cuts, and Steven Barci of Chasers. Their brand of folk and country-leaning indie pop on their debut EP Hey-Mez , out now, captures the spirit and essence of 70's FM radio and their previous bands yet with a modern twist.) http://www.jemezmountainhawkz. com/ [...]

State Lines are previewing another new song from their forthcoming EP. "52s On The Elephant" is another reason why you shouldn't be sleeping on this band. Seriously, if your fans of Tigers Jaw , Title Fight or any of the other bands that have been swelling in on the new punk movement, check these guys out. STREAM // 52S ON THE ELEPHANT

State Lines will be returning with their Tiny Engines debut 73 next month. For now the band are offering stream of a new track from it. "Win Free" is more of the same powerhouse rock that made me fall so fastly in love w/ these dudes in the first place. Head over to Altpress for the stream

This year I delved through nearly every album I listened to in 2011 to pick out my personal cream of the crop. This is probably my most comprehensive list of "best of" songs I've done for BWC thus far...Hope you guys enjoy. The top albums of the year should follow shortly! If there are any mislabeled, mis-tagged links, let me know and I'll get it fixed. I wouldn't be surprised if I muddled through a few misclicks or something trying to copy and paste everything over Tim Kasher // [...]

I've had "Cancer" on repeat ever since I got my ears on State Lines new album Hoffman Manor . These guys have that unmistakable early 00- era sound that's reminiscent of the early work of Brand New Taking Back Sunday and The Early November with a little bit of Tigers Jaw thrown in for good measure. Something about the simplistic realness of this song in particular has had me coming back to it all week. You can name your own price and pick [...]
