There are too many cool songs going through my head lately. Here are seven more of them. List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions along with your 7 songs… [...]

The Pointer Sisters had an enviable run at the top of the charts in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Their hits included "Neutron Dance" and the most famous cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Fire." The albums that all of these songs appeared on were produced by 1970s über-producer Richard Perry. One of the most successful music producers ever, Perry was no stranger to the upper reaches of the charts – he produced the hit album Ringo (1973) for Ringo Starr, others Oddly, one Pointer Sisters album with Perry at the helm made no impression at all [...]

do you enjoy what you do? if not, don't stop, don't say shit ♫ Trackademicks vs. Sammy Bananas - Enjoy What You Do (Bouji Mash N Slash) Just when you thought you weren't going to be getting an exclusive mixtape to jam to all weekend, BAM, here it is! Surprises are fun as hell, but not nearly as fun as this buttery smooth funk-fest that L.A.'s own DJ Bouji has served up for us. I have seen this guy spin a few times and he always lights it up [...]

Stealers Wheel - Stuck In The Middle With You (Todd Terje Edit) Great party starter, hilarious bassline. Knee-slapping good time! Bobby Rush - Do The Do (MVDs Swamp Funk Edit) When you invite Mississippi Jim and Alabama Jo to DJ your party, here's a flavor of what they'll throw down. Bayou Jug Band Jamz.

Filed under: Exclusive , The Hit List If Quentin Tarantino 's movie career can be encapsulated in a single blast of music, it's the twang-laden rumble of Dick Dale 's 'Miserlou.' Energizing the opening credits of ' Pulp Fiction ,' it's a hard, fast piece of retro cool set in an eminently modern (and post-modern) context. Plus, it's exciting as hell. Few other filmmakers have been so renowned for their ability to find just the right piece of music to set a mood, accent a moment [...]
Scotland. The country that claims Braveheart, kilts, the Loch Ness Monster, and single-malt whisky has been the birthplace and home to many of music's greatest artists. From folk to hard rock, here's a look at ten great Scottish acts. 1. Lonnie Donegan – Lonnie Donegan's influence on a generation of musicians has been huge, particularly in and around Britain, where his blending of blues, country, folk, and jazz ushered in the "skiffle" craze. Thousands of young wannabes got swept up, including a pre-Beatles Paul McCartney. Recommended album: Rides Again . 2. Donovan [...]

Well my internet is capped at the moment so this will just be a scraping together of whatever I've already got - searching for music in this state is pure agony. It's put me in an extremely impatient mood so I'm just going to fly through these with minimal effort. Soz. This really doesn't need any caption attached. It's as classic as songs come and it's a Terje edit so it sounds fantastic in a club or in your car or on a boat or on an elephant or anywhere on the planet. The end. [...]

As much as I hate to admit it, the first time I'd ever seen a Quentin Tarantino movie was this past December, when my most marvelous mate, Chandler, showed me Reservoir Dogs . Ever since, I have been hooked. Just the other day, as I was walking to the nearest dining establishment on campus, I overheard the most famous song from the most famous scene in that movie, "Stuck In The Middle With You" by Stealers Wheel . And just because of that, I have decided to share this brilliant song with everybody. [...]
!["American Idol" Gets Whacked By Quentin Tarantino [Idolator's American Idolatry]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1656630_lg.jpg)
This week, American Idol goes to the movies, with director Quentin Tarantino sitting in as mentor as the contestants take on the frustratingly vague theme of "songs from film." (Tarantino has actually served as a guest judge on the show in the past, and he's not exactly a pushover , which should be awesome when he deals with Lil Rounds' outsized ego.) The bloodthirsty Tarantino has always had a deft touch when it comes to putting together soundtracks for his own flicks, and part of me kind of hopes [...]
Well, inaugural shenanigans brought Norman Jay MBE to D.C. for the first time this past weekend. While Norman's been to the States before, only the lure of history could bring him down to the capital for a DJ set at famed Thievery Corporation 's Eighteenth Street Lounge. Norman Jay has been on the UK dance music scene for the past three decades. He's famed for coming up with the term "rare groove," he's worked with Gilles Peterson and helped set up Talkin' Loud Records , and he and his "Good [...]
Say what you will about Quentin Tarantino and his movies, but he and Karyn Rachtman (his music supervisor) seem to have an encyclopedic knowledge of music and have a real knack for picking the absolute perfect song for scenes. And he reclaims the songs so that whenever you hear them again, you immediately think of those specific scenes. I always get a little on edge whenever I hear "Stuck In the Middle With You" ever since I first saw Reservoir Dogs . Chuck Berry - You Never Can Tell (from [...]

Being too young to actually really appreciate Stealers Wheel or Gerry Rafferty , pop culture orientated show's like The Simpsons help me understand the past. 'Baker Street,' Gerry's biggest hit, was featured in the episode where Lisa Simpson procures her new saxophone. This prompted me to download the track - one of the first songs I ever stole. Kingston's Sta (via Toronto) sampled the track for his own little reword entitled "Baker's Dozen." A baker's dozen is 13. What's next? "Stuck in the Middle With You?" [...]

The perfect soundtrack for an ear slicing! Can't believe I have gone this far and not tipped my proverbial cap to Quentin Tarantino yet. He always has such a knack for finding the most perfect slightly obscure song to set to some of his most memorable scenes. Stealers Wheel 'Stuck In The Middle With You' sound just superb as Michael Madson, playing the wonderfully psychotic Mr. Blonde, goes to work on poor Tim Roth's ear. Stealers Wheel - 'Stuck In The Middle With You' MP3

It's about time for a "Friday Five," no? This month I'm pretty excited about, because I've been mulling this one over for months since I was in a bar that had Ray Charles' "What'd I Say" playing. A college-aged girl stopped talking to her friends for a moment and listened to the music. After a few moments she twisted her face and proclaimed to her friends, "These aren't the words!" As I tried my hardest to hold my beer down and not go over and tell her what for and how it wasn't the song sampled [...]
Joe Egan and Gerry Rafferty were a duo known as Stealer's Wheel when they recorded this Dylanesque, pop, bubble-gum favorite from April of 1974. That reached up to number five, as K-Billy's Super Sounds of the Seventies continues. Stealer's Wheel - Stuck in the middle with you [MP3] Yes, that is the same Gerry Rafferty who recorded Baker [...]

Happy/Sad By Tess Lynch Oh no, high school plays are so embarrassing! "You Are The Generation That Bought More Shoes and You Get What You Deserve" - Johnny Boy ( mp3) Ah, the end of summer. Target is crowded, Urban Outfitters is crowded, even Office Depot is crowded. All the tweens and teens suffering from the manic depression that is adolescence are going back to school, and it's such a relief to not be one [...]
First off I want to say that this has been in the works (well in my head) for almost six months, but i've never had the time to just sit down and think about what I wanted to include. I make no secret about my love for film here on the site, as it's almost equal to my love of music. The connection I find between films and music is simple. It's that one scene and that one song that if they're both put to use correctly, than it can set that mood perfectly without there even being any kind [...]
