The VPME As we are currently at Sound City you'll find a couple of Friday freebies below. This isn't a full blog, we'll leave that until the three days of musical madness that is Liverpool Sound City 2012 has ran its wonderful demented course. After all, it's pretty tricky to write coherently when you're in the eye of the storm, and so as a stop gap we've popped up a couple of photos and tunes that represent our highlights from day one. Rebecca - Slow Club. [...]
The VPME Liverpool based Rash Records are acutely aware that " Britain's Got Talent," furthermore they also know that it is rarely discovered via prime time Saturday night TV. They appreciate that genuine talent is far more likely to be unearthed in tiny venues or through the medium of bedroom recording studios across the land rather than by witnessing fame hungry variety club singers being encouraged by personality vacuums to believe that all they need do to succeed is to " make that song your own." Which is sage advice when you think about [...]
Stealing Sheep 's new charming DIY video below is for 'Shut Eye', a single taken from their forthcoming debut album " to be released in August in Heavenly Recordings. The single will be released on the 28th of May in 73 and digital formats and will be backed with exclusive track 'We Like The Dark'. The trio will be performing at the free Something Nothing and Republic of Music showcase at Marwood Coffee House this Saturday (12 May; read more about it ), as well as in their hometown of Liverpool at Sound City [...]
Indie Babes of the Week Stealing Sheep , out of Liverpool, consist of three lovely ladies, Becky Hawley, Emily Lansley and Lucy Mercer. They make magical harmony laced 60's pysch pop that is pretty breathtaking. On their upcoming single, "Shut Eye", the band combine their layered vocals with some of Lykke Li's pounding Jungle boogie. The result is pretty addicting, and something I was not expecting. The video is also very entertaining, in all it's animated glory. I truly don't know how anyone can conceive the idea of getting any shut eye after listening [...]

Facebook / stealingsheep.co.uk I've mentioned Stealing Sheep a few times recently, the girls are playing at a host of festivals around the country over next six weeks or so and following their impressive live show at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen in support of Sea of Bees I've past on the highest possible recommendation to see them. Aside from those live dates, the first chance to hear anything from Stealing Sheep's forthcoming debut LP was shared with us last week, in the form of a wonderful animated video for the [...]

We've heard a lot about Stealing Sheep , much of it is bravado about their aloof debut album , due out in the summer. In anticipation of the forthcoming record, the electro-pop/alt-folk group have announced the release of 'Shut Eye', its freshmen single. The spirited, intriguing piece will be released through Heavenly Recordings on the 28th of May, on both 7" and digital format. Much onus has been placed on the releases, but lest not forget, Stealing Sheep are sure to ruffle many-a-feather this summer; having announced an exciting group of tour dates. We need [...]
A genre-defying mix of analogue electronica, voodoo folk and psychedelic pop, check out the STEALING SHEEP 's clever, creepy and ace new video, SHUT EYE .
The VPME Friday Freebie Liverpool based trio Stealing Sheep are set to conquer the world (well some of it) with their blend of wonky, surreal, choral pastoral folk . Throw in a touch of psychedelia and their infectious, exuberant melodies have been scientifically proven to boost serotonin levels, so much so in fact that the rumour is they even made Morrissey smile, once. "Shut Eye" is the first single to be taken from their forthcoming début album " Into The Diamond Sun " released in August on Heavenly [...]

Their lo-fi mix of psychedelic melodies and a nostalgic 60's vibe have been winning over fans since February last year after they released their first single 'The Mountain Dogs'. Since then they have recorded the single 'I Am The Rain' at Abbey Road Studios, played with the likes of Tune-yards and Slow Club and their music has been played on Radio1 and BBC 6music. October 2011 saw the release of their EP Noah and the Paper Moon and now 2012 is looking to be quite a big year for Stealing Sheep , the [...]

These days you need to be wearing at least 3 pairs of headphones at any given time to keep up with all of the top-notch music piling out of Liverpool, and All We Are are the latest band to prove this probably-watertight theory. They craft devastating, emotionally-involved folk that belies their age; they haven't even been together for a year. Far more impressively for such a young band, they've already got an incredibly well-defined identity, and one that doesn't feel worn out or clichéd, but organic and absolutely genuine. And although tracks like "Red Sky" have the sort [...]

By Nick Levine ( @nicklevine ) The Camden Crawl this year returns to North London bigger and better than ever. Taking place on the May Day Bank Holiday weekend (4-6 May), with over 300 acts across the spectrum of music, comedy and performance set to perform. The festival takes place across a plethora of different venues, with just one ticket allowing access to all. It's a great way of sampling some hotly tipped bands and comedians without breaking the bank. Originally a staple event in the Britpop [...]
Stealing Sheep – Noah & The Paper Moon Liverpool trio Stealing Sheep create a heady brew of twisted folk mores, Velvet Underground haze and warped acoustic rhythms. Noah & The Paper Moon is their debut release on Heavenly and it sounds like the Wickerman soundtrack refracted through a half tuned radio. Beautiful folksy melodies shrouded in a gauze of warm drones. It's the Ghostbox label reimagined by a young Kate Bush. The spectre of the Nico and John Cale haunts the jaunty folk pop opener I am The [...]

Unfortunately, for the next two weeks I am being a horrible bastard and leaving the whole reality thing, meaning that blogging is very unlikely to happen. So here's what I can just tell is going to be going down in the next two weeks: The GIT Award It has been presented as the Scouse Mercury award but, having seen the shortlist, that's probably a bit of an insult to the artists that have made it – and the Mercuries aren't even that disastrous, the current crop of Liverpuddlian artists are just that [...]

The VPME Stealing Sheep. There's been baaaaa-rly a squeak from us about Liverpool's hotly tipped, harmony drenched, psych folk, dream pop trio Stealing Sheep, but don't ewe wooly we aim to set things straight and stoically resist resorting to infantile puns about sheep. They've recently uploaded an evocative new video for their track "I am The Rain" which is a bit M. Night Shyamalan's "the Villag e" meets "the Wicker Man" as well as recording a quite stunning session for Marc [when did that beard [...]

This hastily-arranged show was the second of Field Music 's shows in Newcastle that kick off their latest nationwide tour. The first gig sold out, so a second date was added... and that sold out too! Proof, if proof were needed, that something special is in store for Field Music this year. But before the Sunderland lads take to the stage, we are treated to Stealing Sheep , three lasses from Liverpool who specialise in a quite wonderful brand of [...]

So onto the fifth and final tips for 2012, as much as I enjoy all the end of year list culture, I am looking forward to the blog returning to normality, though when I say that, I mean in the New Year. The next week or so will bring a combination of some normal "Introducing" posts I've been saving for post-list and some seasonal posts, then I'm taking a very much deserved, and possibly needed break of 7-10 days before returning in very early January. Just Music That I Like's Tips for 2012 - Part Five. [...]

As we enter 2012, Liverpool's Stealing Sheep are cooking up a storm. Currently, however, one-third of the folktronica trio is actually cooking up some formidable looking soup. The Line Of Best Fit is sat in vocalist/keyboardist Becky Hawley's kitchen and she has just prepared what looks and smells like the world's healthiest pan of vegetable broth. It is so thick that several spoons would stand tall in it. Becky is a graduate of the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts - or LIPA as it is known around these parts – which is [...]
Sunderland's Field Music has planned out a tour of the UK in February 2012 to coincide with the release of their next album, 'Plumb', on the 13th of February. Tickets are available now. The Brewis brothers will be supported by Stealing Sheep on some of the dates. Monday 6th February 2012 - Edinburgh Picture House Friday 10th February 2012 - Newcastle Cluny Saturday 18th February 2012 - Glasgow Stereo * Sunday 19th February 2012 - Manchester Deaf [...]

With our forthcoming gig at The Old Blue Last on December 13, The Line of Best Fit have confirmed headline act Stealing Sheep as a new favourite. Our faith in the Liverpool trio is justified on their new EP Noah and the Paper Moon , a record that vividly hints at the girls' forthcoming success. Shrouded in otherworldly harmonies and intricate imagery, the release has enough melodic clout to overcome the most stalwart of cynics. No track documents Stealing Sheep's ability to capture a wraithlike magic [...]
