A bunch of big names are slated to play the second All Points West Music & Arts Festival in New Jersey the last weekend in July. Lineup is below. Tickets go on sale this Friday (4/4) at noon via Ticketmaster. They are $89 for a single day ticket and $199 for a three-day pass. A new addition this year is the option of rail and boat transportation in addition to the popular ferry service that arrives at Liberty State Park from lower Manhattan. More travel info here . [...]
The initial lineup for All Points West , which will be July 31-August 2 at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, N.J., has been announced. And it looks pretty solid. Some of the big names include Beastie Boys , Yeah Yeah Yeahs , Tool , My Bloody Valentine , Echo & The Bunnymen and Coldplay . Some of the not quite as big names include Tokyo Police Club , Heartless Bastards , Steel Train and Michael Showalter.

Seems that Steel Train is in the studio right now. I'm assuming they're recording a new album. Then again, they could be recording the soundtrack for a baby tiger snuff porn VHS. Really, either would work for me; as long as there's a least one track that stands up to I Feel Weird (take a listen below, if you're unawares and what not). But anyway, Jack Antonoff and the boys should be done by May 14, or so they say . How do I know the specific date? Because [...]

If you've heard The Format, you know there are not too many bands better at crafting epic works of pop-rock. If you've heard Steel Train (who, by the way, have just started working on a new album of their own), you know there are not too many bands better at crafting epic works of pop-rock. So to see the lead singers of both bands (Nate Ruess and Jack Antonoff) join forces is truly something to get excited about. Fun, their brand new band, already has one exceptional demo out that incorporates all of the [...]
:: Time Out New York took a look at what Jack Antonoff ( Steel Train , Fun ) and his "family" (which includes Fun's Nate Ruess and Arrested Development's Alia Shawkat) like to wear for the holidays . Expensive tastes, it seems. :: The folks at Matador have lots of lists from lots of folks in the Mata-family. :: Craig Owens ( Chiodos ) signed to Equal Vision . Happy days! :: Here are some pictures of Ted Leo playing solo [...]
If you've read this site in the last week or two it has been quite apparent that SDM interviewer Jill Donenfeld has been very busy. This time she interviews Evan Winiker of Steel Train . Jill Donenfeld: So, I have Evan Winiker here from Steel Train. Evan Winiker: That's me. JD: You're in the midst of a tour right now… EW: We are just done with it. JD: What's been your favorite place to play? Why? [...]
by eliza Fun is a band you will love. Formerly the front man for The Format, lead singer Nate Ruess teamed up with Steel Train's Jack Antonoff and Andrew Dost of Anathollo. They recorded their debut album this September and have been on the road with Jack's Mannequin and Treaty of Paris . I saw them last night at The Blender Theater and have nothing but delightful things to say. First of all, they're just, as you might guess, fun. Even though they're a new band, [...]

There were a lot of difficult decisions I had to make Thursday night. Decision 1: brave the cold, rainy weather which had ridiculously appeared after a previous hot day (Seriously, I went from shorts to winter coat in a day). I decided to brave the weather. At the venue the next decision was a little trickier, haha: attend Tech N9ne upstairs or Jack's Mannequin in the basement. I chose Jack's Mannequin. I know that I may have disappointed some with that decision, but since Tech and I are bffs from our encounter at the [...]
It's not often I go to a show where I've heard the band online, been disinterested and then seen them live and they've completely changed my view of them. The Morning Light did this quite easily. I wasn't a fan and couldn't tell you the name of a single one of their songs beforehand, but [...]

Anybody who isn't privy to Anathallo - the ex-Mt. Pleasant, MI indie-folk collective now living in Chicago and signed to mf'ing Antic...er, uh, maybe we're not supposed to say that yet - is seriously missing out. Some beautiful jams coming out of those kids (peep "Noni's Field" from the upcoming Canopy Glow for starters). We must admit that we were a little sad when we heard that multi-instrumentalist Andrew Dost recently left the group to join emo-country band Steel Train (yikes), but we're a bit more excited about this "fun" [...]
Supergroup alert! Fun recently announced its existence, and its ranks include members of personal favorites The Format (Nate Ruess), Anathallo (Andrew Dost) and Steel Train (Jack Antonoff). See, that sounds like a supergroup, doesn't it? Not only did Fun tell us all who is involved in the merry-making, but the band announced that it will accompany Jack's Mannequin on tour in the near future.

The Late Greats says she will be a smashing success in 2009 and I agree. Listen: Leslie Mendelson - " Easy Love " (mp3) But that's really all I have about her at the moment, so listen enjoy and make sure to venture back here in the future for more Leslie Mendelson news. So let's talk about Steel Train. Silly boys who thought a plain jane band name would ever help them rise above in search engines...no seriously, it took forever to find anymore news about these guys. [...]

Wow, it's been a terribly long time since we've posted here. Don't worry, we're still ready to blog our little hearts out, we've just had a few exciting developments that kept us from here the last week or so. Here's some tracks to celebrate our return: [mp3] The Beatles - Get Back [mp3] Steel Train - I Want You Back (Jackson 5 Cover) As you may have previously noticed, we registered a .com address a few months ago to store all of our music at. Since then, [...]

Sadly, The Wheel's Still In Spin will not be going to SXSW this year. But we can still dream. Here is a list of the bands that we would most like to see at SXSW for Thu, March 13, 2008 . There are links to each artist's band page at SXSW.com with a short quote, when available, from the band's bio that appears on that page. 3PM - [...]

Ah, it seems winter is finally about to settle in on Atlanta, I've got Friday afternoon off, and I'll be visiting The Pub tonight for some frosty livations, and again tomorrow morning for the big matches . Then, it's off to find a cheesy xmas sweater for a party Saturday night. So, instead of comments this week, post a pic of your favorite xmas jumper, yeah? Okay, I know nobody leaves comments here, but I thought it'd be funny. Anyhow, enjoy the music, your weekend, and the cold weather (*if you've missed it like I [...]
