"Oh my God. Wait. You haven't heard about The Steelwells? Have you, like, been living under a rock?" ...is what I will say to you in 2012 when you are still wondering who this band is. If my crystal ball is correct, this group of hard-working fellows are bound to blow the heck up any moment now. I mean, the dudes just finished touring with Foster The People this year and even got some coveted showtime at SXSW in March. (And, I should add, they were featured in the February 2011 issue [...]

One of the bands that i'm an avid supporter of, The Steelwells, has just released a remix that has been done by Beta Block3r, putting a major spin on their song El Capitan by bringing in the fresh electro aspect. Give it a listen! The Steelwells - El Capitan (BETA BLOCK3R REMIX) Download audio file (El-Capitan-BETA-BLOCK3R-REMIX .mp3) Tweet This Post
Talk about talent. Saturday night I was fortunate enough to see Southern California indie rockers The Steelwells and The Silent Comedy at The Roxy Los Angeles. I knew and heard very little from each artist and left with my hands red from all the clap

Well we didn't get to it until the 11th hour, but that's alright because who doesn't love themselves a handful of remixes? The below handful of remixes has all of the artists you know and love and some you might just have to learn to love. First off is Geographer 's "Kites" remix which we really haven't seen up until now. We've even got a remix of Moby 's "Pale Horses" by the well-accepted Apparat . Moby has been quite active recently and is quite the avid tweeter. Check him out on Twitter @ thelittleidiot [...]
As you can probably tell from my posts, I'm way more into hip-hop, but every once in a while, an alternative band catches my attention, and recently, THE STEELWELLS did just that. They are a 5 piece upbeat, indie rock group out of Fullerton, CA.

Nothing moribund about this Monday: ► Hanni El Khatib opens the second week of the Rumspringa residency at the Bootleg Theater, which also features Moses Campbell . ► Rabbits Rabbits Rabbits supports at this week's Walking Sleep residency at the Satellite. ► Leslie Stevens (of the Badgers' fame) plays ahead of resident Amanda Jo Williams at the Echo. ► The Steelwells and Nightfur are on the bill at the Silverlake Lounge for Wake Up Lucid's [...]

Don't worry, there's nothing unlucky about finding yourself in the #13 slot on the coveted Find of The Week list. The Steelwells are an unsigned Fullerton, CA band that are riding the high of their 2009 debut EP release Shallow On The Draft . The songs are infectious and frontman Joey Winter just has one of those voices. You know, the one when you just can't stop listening and start to wonder how is that voice coming out of that burly face? After playing shows relentlessly the band is finally receiving the recognition that [...]

Ah, the Warped Tour. One of the last remaining bastions of a punk-rock tour in the U.S. Even though I've never heard of most of the bands that are playing the festival this year and the tour tends to cater to a much younger crowd (i.e. 12-16 years old, it seems), Warped is still an American institution that should be attended at least once. That being said, the main acts for this, the 17th annual Warped Tour, include the following bands: 3OH!3, A Day To Remember, The Devil Wears Prada, Against Me!, August Burns Red, [...]

SoCal Owls are on a mission to make The Steelwells the next band to grace the cover of Rolling Stone...and get a huge record deal in the process.
The Steelwells captured my heart with their pop masterpiece "El Capitan" . Their EP, Shallow On The Draft, is doing all kinds of wondrous things for me. They are certainly a promising band, and I'm not alone. They have been selected among 15 other bands to compete for a chance to be featured on the cover of Rollingstone on the August 5th Issue. Fans get to choose who wins. Fans get to vote on each band at Rolling Stone's website . The bands will get narrowed down until there are only two left, and those [...]

The Steelwells from Fullerton, California, just loaded up a timer on their website with the simple phrase beneath it "The Steelwells have something to share with you." What are they counting down to? What could the timer mean for the delightfully folky pop of The Steelwells? I haven't a clue. But Check out their video for "El Capitan"!
The word must be out that I am a sucker for the music video. I'm a victim of my age - when Sting still wanted his Mtv - what can I say? The Steelwells are another one of those bands that call themselves folk (even though they bear no resemblance to Baez or Seeger) that are easy enough for me to like. The best I can tell, they're based out of Southern California. This track is from their debut record, Shallow On the Draft [...]
