I've got good news and I've got bad news. The good news is we're about to peep a video of Bonnie Raitt singing Dirty Work with Steely Dan at Shoreline back in 2006. The bad news is that the clip only contains about half of the song and there's an annoying woman yapping next to the camera-person. That being said, you can still get a feel for what an amazing job Raitt does with the tune despite the quality of the clip... Steely Dan w/ Bonnie Raitt - Dirty Work

Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is commonly know as Black Friday - a term originally named by Philadelphia bus drivers in 1966 due to the heavy street traffic encountered during the holidays. And Black Friday is usually associated with door-buster sales and "the first person in the store gets a free Xbox" sales. But with the tragic death of a Wal-Mart worker, and those two people killed at Toys R Us in California, hopefully many consumers are looking to sleep in, put on their robe and fuzzy slippers, and shop online. If you are looking to shop online, [...]
In 1974, Steely Dan co-founders Donald Fagen and Walter Becker found that the sounds they heard in their head were often too expansive for the 5-piece band they had formed. So they hired a passel of session men for their third album and created Pretzel Logic .
[Originally Published August 9, 2007] Steely Dan 03/20/1974 FM ( MP3 ): After listening to one of Steely Dan's rare live gigs from the '70s, I'm just confused as to why these guys didn't tour behind any of their legendary albums. The Dan absolutely tore it up in the live setting with a band that included Michael McDonald, Denny Dias and Jeff "Skunk" Baxter. To see what I'm talking about, download this crispy as fuck radio show Steely Dan recorded on [...]

When I was watching Grizzly Bear at the Treasure Island Music Festival, I had a revelation waft over me. I'd always considered Grizzly Bear to be serious, quiet, and musically complex. But it wasn't until the major cloud of weed smoke appeared that I realized that they're a stoner band! And also, similar to Steely Dan! But you don't even need a cloud to enjoy this video of "Ready, Able":

History gives Steely Dan's Walter Becker and Donald Fagen the last, hearty laugh on this, the crown jewel in their remarkable canon of '70s Mensa pop. Sneaking onto the charts a half-decade earlier with sinuous, jazz-inflected "rock," the dysfunctional duo's acerbic, anti-heroic visions had been critically lauded for their band identity and killer guitar riffs, then promptly challenged when the

As many of you already know, I saw Steely Dan in Chicago a couple of weekends ago. It was the Chicago Theater - smallish, intimate, the perfect venue. Suffice it to say the band was smokin'. They played the classic Aja in it's sequential entirety, and then proceeded to romp through 14 gems from the extensive back catalog. Donald Fagen is a great band leader, orchestrating the 13 strong back up
