http://www.steeringbystars.com /index.html / http://steeringbystars.bandcam p.com/ Austrailian four piece Steering By Stars were sitting in my draft folder, I'm not sure how I discovered them (I've some 70 drafts 'ready' to be listened / written up) but on listening to their track "Closer" I decided to finish this post there and then. Their sound veers somewhere near to Sigur Rós, stimulating, atmospheric, symphonic, wonderful. The track that got me "Closer" encompasses their sound, classically inspired post-rock. After crashing drum crescendos start the track progresses into a slow-burning, emotive number. Building momentum [...]

In this edition: Pallers is on the radar, Regurgitator has your summer fun, news from around the blogosphere, and videos! On the Radar: Pallers The ambient electropop of Pallers is gripping. Pallers are long-time friends, Henrik Martenson and Johan Angergard, who hail from the same town in Sweden. The pair combine elements of electronica, down-tempo, trip hop, and 802s synthpop to create atmospheric tracks where vocals are texture as much as they are lyrical expression. Their new LP, The Sea of Memories, [...]
Steering By Stars - Collision More great Aussie music from Steering by Stars who have just premiered "Collision" this week

I may be a slow blogger in the coming weeks. I am off to New York to escape this wintery city! As I recover from intense infection, reading Murakami and watching Mad Men and crappy films is enough excitement for this dinosaur. Janelle Monáe - Wondaland How strange that I didn't hear this bopping hot [...]
Adelaide four piece Steering By Stars have just put out their independent debut album Cables. The lead single, Closer took my liking right away (hectic intro, eerie vocals and some really beautiful keys) but the rest of the tracks are so diverse that its taken me a little while to take it all in. The album seems to start of with large stadium drums and an almost progressive feel but then quickly becomes more and more driven by the strong melody of the piano and it's sorta nice to get [...]
