An hour and a bit later, all bearings scattered across page 46 of the Somerset mapped countryside, the sci-fi marquee that will no doubt trigger horrific imagery in the minds of a fair few this weekend arises from the shoreline. Its magnificence is tremendous but in the loosest possible sense of the word. Minehead is certainly a sight to behold; the magnates of commercialism man the fort on the outskirts and taboos are broken left, right and centre with not one visit to the dreaded McDonalds but three. Tesco, for its part, drags us out of a tight spot (personified [...]

:: I'll be honest, the more Liz Phair "sells out," the hotter she gets. So now she'll be like Lucy in that one episode. You know, that one. Why? Because she's working with Banana Republic . :: Cotton Jones Basket Ride recently went "off the record" with Aquarium Drunkard. :: Dave Allen (from Gang of Four , not the HXC founder and tattoo artist ) was happy to see the band Arizona utilizing the internet to its fullest . Me too. Although without any [...]

One of the biggest challenges with stand-up comedy is presenting something polished and well timed while making it seem loose and improvised. While the boys in Stella aren't your traditional comedians, the three man team of Michael Showalter, Michael Ian Black, and David Wain took this principle to heart in front of a sold out crowd at The Vic, presenting the audience with an hour and a half conversation that hovered somewhere between stand-up and sketch, a wonderfully awkward hybrid that owed as much to Eugene Ionesco as it did to the Marx Brothers. As insane as the subject matter [...]
I'm kind of picky about what I'll be attending this week. It looks as though Subtle at the Independent has my attention so far. However seeing Audrye Sessions and Cold War Kids would be nice. Too bad I have this full time job I have to keep up with. Anyway, if you're going to the KITS LIVE 105's NSSN 08 or the Pre-Party show (click the picture for tickets), try to make the local band showcase and check out Picture Atlantic and Dizzy Balloon at the ol' Cafe du Nord. [...]

Stella at Union Hall (11/22/08) Saturday night at Union Hall was a run through show for the upcoming Stella reunion tour and Black, Showalter and Wain are obviously still polishing their act (as you can see from the photos, they made no attempt to hide their scripts). The 55 or so folks those that were lucky enough to be there warmly (maybe somewhat luke warmly at times) embraced the show, but for those [...]

Hey guys, sorry bout the silence as usual, but my excuse is that I am experiencing some health issues lately to the tune of massive headaches and lost of productive filming. Filming which I have not taken advantage of enough. I should be interviewing every band I film and making promos for them. But I [...]

The National @ Central Park Summerstage, 8/4/08 New York Magazine is celebrating its 40th anniversary this Friday night with a concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Tickets are $35. Snatch 'em up while you can and get your ass to the show. I'll be there. [...]

I'm not proficient at performing Google searches, so you'll have to excuse my ignorance if somebody else has already been elected official torchbearer of the Michael Ian Black (née Michael Schwartz) backlash club. As far as I can tell (that is, without doing a single web search for "Michael Ian Black sucks" or "Michael Ian Black backlash"), I'm the first to attempt this. Let me tell you...it feels pretty good. I haven't even begun typing anything substantial yet, just this flowery introduction, and it feels really, really good. I'm talking blowjob-from-a-girl good. I remember Mr. Black when he [...]

Here is some video of the artist Stella -outside 11 Spring St. for the art opening that Wooster Collective has put together - spraying the outside wall, and talking with me briefly on camera. Stella has done all those ubiquitous praying hands you see all over the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The show is open tomorrow, Sunday, officially from 11am-5pm. Though the response has been so great, without the Wooster Collective sending out one press release [...]
