I grew up in Runcorn, on the south bank of the Mersey. The largest employer in town was ICI, who made caustic soda and chlorine. About a square kilometre of my home town was full of metal pipes, lye pools and strangely coloured flames. Thus I'm maybe alone in thinking, when I hear the title Icy Eyes , of corrosion warning signs and childhood leukaemia hotspots.
