Is it too early to get excited for a Christmas special? The special, titled A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All , will air Sunday, November 23 at 10pm, which will closely be followed by a DVD release two days later (a portion of the DVD's proceeds will go to [...]
On the heels of the Fox News protest he led outside the NewsCorp Building and his album hitting No. 1, Nas stopped by the Colbert Report to chat with Stephen about why he was in a flame war with Fox and Bill O'Reilly in particular, the scrapped title of his album, and how the news media is somehow more sensationalist than ever before. Video of him performing his Fox News dis "Sly Fox" after the jump. Nah Right also [...]
Stephen Colbert had a short interview with Rush while sitting in harness right before they went on to play a pretty killer Tom Sawyer. He asked some rpetty tough questions like "Do you ever get tired of kicking so much ass?" and had a pretty funny run out on stage before the song was over. Apparently this pissed a lot of hardcore rush fans off that he did this.
Aside from this being the first time these dudes have been on US television in three decades, the best thing ever came out of Colbert's mouth during the interview, when he asked, "Have you ever written a song so epic that by the end of it, you are actually being influenced by yourself?" Also, Neil Peart in a yarmulke? Awesome times nine. Rush 's latest, Snakes & Arrows , is out now. (mp3) Rush - One Little Victory (live) Godspeed!

SomaCow Media is proud to present SomaCow , brought to you in this hour by nobodylikesonions.com - They're neat, they've been doing it for a while, and we like them. Have a listen, why don't you? In this hour, we discussed our respective Independence Day festivities, we remembered our listeners abroad, and the first time we ever got drunk. Every year I challenge our listeners to take some time here, as our country celebrates its birth, and declare independence from something. It [...]
My new Spot-on column is all about Stephen Colbert, a piece originally prompted by his new book I Am America (And So Can You!) , but also by developments in his presidential campaign - well, his campaign for the Democratic primary in South Carolina (The Republicans wanted $35,000 to file). Just in the hours since that column was posted, his campaign has been squashed . Colbert, who poses as a conservative talk-show host on the Comedy Central cable network, filed to get on the ballot [...]
Here's a few treats for today... Have fun playing the De-Animator , based on H.P. Lovecraft's collection Herbert West: Reanimator (which you can read online ; also made into a great pulp movie ). If you like playing House of the Dead (one of the few video games I don't completely suck at), you'll love shooting the living dead. Over at defective yeti , you can find links to 22 classic spooky tales you can read online, including selections from M.R. James, E.A. Poe, W.W. [...]

Last night, "Rock and Awe: The Countdown to Guitarmageddon" went down on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report , where Stephen Colbert met (and subsequently ducked) the challenge from The Decemberists in a guitar solo duel. It was a night that saw Morley Safer of 60 Minutes , Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick , New York governor-elect Eliot Spitzer, Robert Schneider of The Apples in Stereo , Peter Frampton , and none other then Henry Kissinger, who beckoned Colbert to shred with a call to "crank it up."
