Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks brought some solid tunes from their latest "Mirror Traffic," a collaboration between Malkmus and Beck. Malkmus, along with Mike Clark, Joanna Bolme and new drummer Jake Morris, seemed to be having a damn good time playing for the appreciative crowd at The Music Box. Ty Segall, who always rocks the house, opened. Photos of Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks and Ty Segall from October 19, 2011 by Debi Del Grande. [View with PicLens]
Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks latest album entitled Mirror Traffic is full of some pretty solid tracks. I posted on one of them back in July and here's another song that really stood out to me. Stick Figures In Love has a really catchy hook in it that I instantly loved with a cool sounding guitar line that plays throughout the song. It's vintage Stephen Malkmus throughout the song with slacker vocals, an easy vibe and energy to boot. This second track I'm posting is not from Malkmus' lastest album. It's actually from his first album with [...]
Day Two of Treasure Island Music Festival is always my favorite. The crowd is calmer, less drugged up, and slightly older than the previous day. Plus the music is more akin to my tastes as this is the more "rock oriented" showcase of bands. Again I did not have my DSLR, so make due with my new iPhone 4S pictures and Instagram filters. Boasting past acts like Justice, MGMT, Modest Mouse, and Vampire Weekend, the Treasure Island Music Festival returned to San Francisco this year with a whole new dose of indie jewels. Billed for the weekend? Such critically-acclaimed artists as Cut Copy , Empire of the Sun , and St. Vincent . Those in attendance? Pirates, indians, and aliens alike. Saturday was a time for raucous play and shameless dance parties. Dizzee Rascal , Cut Copy, and Empire of the Sun led the way, attracting the weekend's highest volume of festival-goers. Jack Black e Gary Cole sono i protagonisti del primo video estratto dal nuovo disco dell'ex- Pavement Stephen Malkmus e i suoi The Jicks . "The Senator" è stato segnalato da Stereogum tra i "The 5 Best Videos Of The Week". VIDEO: Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks - Senator pubblicato su Indie For BUNNIES
Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks premiered the music video for their first single "Senator," which is a super silly clip brought together by a creative force consisting of Daily Show writer Scott Jacobson, Jack Black, Gary Cole ( Office Space ), and of course, Malkmus himself. Black plays a sleazy senator who desperately tries to get re-elected. Oh, and the last scene is a lot more disturbing than I was expecting to see. Watch: Also watch: "No One Is As I Are Be" [...]

Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks, Ty Segall @ Music Box, Hollywood 10/19/11
Armed with some witty stage banter and clever lyrics, Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks stopped by the Music Box in support of their latest album Mirror Traffic . Malkmus and the Jicks also delved into their back catalog by dusting off "Discretion Grove", a super jammy "1% of One", a synthesizer fueled rendition of "Pencil Rot" and a Malkmus solo version of "Church On White". Hailing from San Francisco, Ty Segall cranked his Death By Audio Fuzz War pedal for some scuzzy tunes that had everyone nodding their heads in approval. Check out the pictures above.

Video: Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, 'Senator'
Pavement fans may still be wishing for another reunion tour but Stephen Malkmus is happily touring with the Jicks in support of their latest album "Mirror Traffic." Although he'll always be praised for his underrated days in the acclaimed '90s band, the nonchalance and cleverness embedded in Malkmus' mind has only gotten sharper. Songs such as "Senator," along with its the hilarious video starring Jack Black, ironically twist the game of corrupted politics in his smart-alec remarks. Other tracks such as "Tigers" are more carefree than tunes on previous albums with the Jicks, but the witty lyrics are [...]

LIVE REVIEW: Treasure Island Music Festival 2011
It was just one of those epic weekends here in San Francisco, and The Owl Mag got a bird's eye view.
AV Roundup: Volume One
Ritwik Deshpande picks some of the best music, and music-based, videos around on the wonderful interwebz. 'Midnight City' - M83 The lead single off the new M83 double album Midnight City gets a beautifully bleak video, rife with telekinetic kids breaking out of an asylum. It's an oddly menacing scene, but given the context of the music, it takes on an almost hopeful quality. Wonderful stuff. 'Senator' - Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks Jack Black plays a coke-sniffing, [...]
[video] Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks // Senator
Tweetvaso linkI don't particularly care for this song, but hey, it stars Jack Black as a senatorial candidate who does too much blow, along with Gary Cole as his running mate or something. Malkmus is right about one thing here, though: everyone does want a blow job. Mirror Traffic, the album from whence this song...
