Auf der Webseite ist zu lesen: "In December, we will be offering a seminar (no credits) at the Unversity of Frisco at Zero entitled: "How to make a great record the VERY hard way". Wie hart es war, erzählte Stephen (2.v.r) dem Pitchfork-Mag . Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks - Baltimore
Malkmus and the Jicks have a new album, Real Emotional Trash set for release on March 4th, but yesterday Matador gave us the first taste of the album. "Baltimore" harkens back to Pig Lib 's epic indie prog, clocking in at 6 1/2 minutes: Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks - "Baltimore" And for those of you that need song titles, we've got that as well: Tracklist for Real Emotional Trash: Dragonfly Pie Hopscotch Willie Cold Son Real Emotional [...]
I've been saving this one until after finals and I'm so glad I did. This is such a sweet reward. MP3: Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks - Baltimore I've always loved Malkmus' winding lyrics, but on this one he gets psychodelic and poetic at the same time. At times his lyrics ...
Matablog heeft een verse MP3 van Stephen Malkmus ' komende plaat getiteld Real Emotional Trash online staan. Check hem hier .

Dudes/dudettes: Year-end lists are coming next week. Albums on Monday, tracks probably the rest of the week unless there's a clamor for me to post 50+ MP3s in one day and totally nuke my bandwith. I saw Richard Hawley last night and he was absolutely tremendous. Photos/review coming soon, probably Sunday. Stereogum interviews my dudes the Acorn, crafters of 2007's finest weirdo-folk album. Meanwhile, in the Gummy Awards , handsome fella Jens Lekman takes home the "hottie" award and St. Vincent's Annie Clark is underrated in [...]

Solid tune Mr. Malkmus ...not like i am biased or anything. Stephen Malkus & The Jicks - Baltimore (MP3) (photo by yours truly )
MP3: Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks - "Baltimore" from Real Emotional Trash, out March 4 on Matador. The song is a six-and-a-half-minute psychedelic sea shanty that gets progressively proggier. "It's warm for a witch trial. Don't you agree?" Courtesy of...
Even though it might get our blogger press credentials revoke, we must admit that Pavement never really did it for us. Maybe it was the sometimes-forced goofiness on the later albums, or the too-often out of key yelling that passed...

No matter how you type it... Freshkills , FRESH KILLS , freshkills . Rocks. 'Nuff said. Listen. Download one track from the EP "Prisonship Martyrs" (mp3) Download two tracks from Creeps And Lovers "Taste Of Metal" (mp3) "Creeps And Lovers" (mp3) And yes... they are playing here on Saturday. MP3: Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks - Batimore Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks have given us a taste off of their upcoming sure-to-be-a-fucking-facemelte r/gash-slayer "Real Emotional Trash". If "Baltimore" is any indication ( and I think it is ), we're in for a treat with sexy harmonies, usual Malkmus guitar shredding and excitingly loud and brutal drums from everyone's favourite rock and roll drummer and new "Jick", Janet Weiss. We'll have to wait until March to [...]
The six and a half minute Pavement-esque epic is also the studio debut of former Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss on drums.

news of the tracklisting & release date (03/04/07) for the forthcoming stephen malkmus & the jicks album, real emotional trash , spread across the blogosphere yesterday afternoon (via pitchfork ) & i couldn't be more excited...to get you in the mood for that three month wait, here's the four track session the band did for bbc radio one back on 10/03/05...it includes the first track off the new album in which malkmus tries to "channel an ozzy osborne type of singing", as well as a couple tunes from face the truth [...]

Love them oysters? Well, Calais author, Rowan Jacobsen , recently released his new book A Geography of Oysters: The Connoisseur's Guide to Oyster Eating in North America and will be doing a book reading at Bear Pond Books in Montpelier next Tuesday, Oct 2. In addition to tossing around fancy words about our mollusk friends, he'll be sharing a variety of oysters from around the region. Plus, I think he's even going to be providing some wines to go with the oysters. Sounds like dinner and a cheap [...]

Tough start to the week, but it wraps up nicely! Monday: Cat Power @ Hiro Ballroom 7pm $25 By the time you read this the show will already be sold out. What would you expect from one of the most reverred women in indie rock today? She sold out a show on the day of the Super Bowl, of course she would sell out a Monday show when I couldn't find a single other show to recommend to you good people! You should have acted on this as soon as Brooklyn Vegan posted the info! [...]

What's better than Stephen Malkmus ? Stephen Malkmus with a mustache. Ladies, your wishes came true at the El Rey Theatre in LA last Saturday as the former Pavement frontman played one of the most inspired shows in recent memory with his new crew (the Jicks), making fans everywhere wonder if a Pavement reunion would even be worth the valium it would take to get everyone in a room together. I'd still say yes. I did almost pass out from exhaustion at the El Rey, but it wasn't Steve's fault. I blame the [...]
