I think Coldplay may have set an all-time record for prime time performances in support of an album. Watch their two performances from SNL w/Emma Stone. You can read about Malkmus moving to Berlin in this in-depth interview with GQ over here. Lastly, you can get a new taste from Little Boots. She teased us with a mixtape last week, but new material has surfaced below. Coldplay-Every Tear Drop is a Waterfall (Swedish House Mafia Remix) [mp3] Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks-Tigers [mp3] [...]

O novo single da banda do líder dos Pavement, chama-se "Senator" e faz parte do álbum Mirror Traffic , que saiu durante o verão de 2011. A banda que começou recentemente a sua tour europeia, não tem, no entanto, nenhuma data marcada em território português.

Constellations 2011 By Russell Warfield Single-day festivals are a real pleasure of mine: lots of great bands, all in one place, without guy-ropes. And my favourite incarnation of forefather event Dot to Dot was the Manchester version, where pretty much the whole affair was homed within the confines of the Student Union building, minimising both drinks prices and walking distances. How fabulous, then, to have Constellations Festival fall into my life in Leeds last year, fully formed, seemingly from nowhere, operating almost identically, but better . For [...]

David Black That Ryan Adams' retirement from music - declared at the start of 2009 as a result of personal, medical, and industry factors - wouldn't last was never in question. You don't go from being as prolific as he had been over the past decade and a half to radio silence without a relapse or two. That said, he made a pretty good go of it for a while, busying himself with writing and being Mr. Mandy Moore. By early 2010, however, he was clearly ready to get back to making music [...]
Pavement has been among my top 5 favorite artists since the mid '90s and I finally got the opportunity to see them in concert last summer on their reunion tour, but they broke up after 1999's Terror Twilight and at some point, like most bands, the lack of new music in over a decade may make them no longer among my favorites. I had hopes that perhaps the reunion would spark the desire to write with each other again but that hasn't happened and as far as I know only lead singer Stephen Malkmus continues [...]

Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks brought some solid tunes from their latest "Mirror Traffic," a collaboration between Malkmus and Beck. Malkmus, along with Mike Clark, Joanna Bolme and new drummer Jake Morris, seemed to be having a damn good time playing for the appreciative crowd at The Music Box. Ty Segall, who always rocks the house, opened. Photos of Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks and Ty Segall from October 19, 2011 by Debi Del Grande. [View with PicLens]

Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks latest album entitled Mirror Traffic is full of some pretty solid tracks. I posted on one of them back in July and here's another song that really stood out to me. Stick Figures In Love has a really catchy hook in it that I instantly loved with a cool sounding guitar line that plays throughout the song. It's vintage Stephen Malkmus throughout the song with slacker vocals, an easy vibe and energy to boot. This second track I'm posting is not from Malkmus' lastest album. It's actually from his first album with [...]

Jesse Dylan I promised you I was done with Iceland updates, and really you don't get more un-Icelandic than Tom Waits . Of course, the only thing Tom Waits is really like is, well, Tom Waits and even then one era of Waits can be wildly different from the next. I say this as someone who's only very recently begun exploring his expansive catalog and still has a long ways to go - but at least now I find his work intriguing rather than off-putting, as I once did. That's progress. I'm [...]

Armed with some witty stage banter and clever lyrics, Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks stopped by the Music Box in support of their latest album Mirror Traffic . Malkmus and the Jicks also delved into their back catalog by dusting off "Discretion Grove", a super jammy "1% of One", a synthesizer fueled rendition of "Pencil Rot" and a Malkmus solo version of "Church On White". Hailing from San Francisco, Ty Segall cranked his Death By Audio Fuzz War pedal for some scuzzy tunes that had everyone nodding their heads in approval. Check out the pictures above.
Pavement fans may still be wishing for another reunion tour but Stephen Malkmus is happily touring with the Jicks in support of their latest album "Mirror Traffic." Although he'll always be praised for his underrated days in the acclaimed '90s band, the nonchalance and cleverness embedded in Malkmus' mind has only gotten sharper. Songs such as "Senator," along with its the hilarious video starring Jack Black, ironically twist the game of corrupted politics in his smart-alec remarks. Other tracks such as "Tigers" are more carefree than tunes on previous albums with the Jicks, but the witty lyrics are [...]
