Last night, Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks were guests on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. The band played the previously released single "Senator" and a new song, "Surreal Teenagers." ("Surreal Teenagers" is only available on Jimmy Fallon's website ; the performance was not aired.) "Senator" is off Malkmus' new album Mirror Traffic . Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks perform with Holy Sons at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 28th, at the TLA; tickets to the all ages show are $20.

Stephen Malkmus took his Jicks onto Jimmy Fallon's program last night, busting out the Mirror Traffic single "Senator" without the references to "blowjobs" but with ample guitar heroics. The thing that's probably most disappointing for Pavement heads is how professional this is: You can't imagine Pavement going in and doing a remarkably professional version of any of their songs, and then glad-hand with the host afterwards. Though dude did at least shred that final solo behind his head. Malkmus and company also performed a bonus track called "Surreal Teenagers," which is below.

Last night Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks took Mirror Traffic 's "Senator" to Late Night With Jimmy Fallon , though it didn't appear that Malkmus had indeed swapped out the song's lyric "blow job" for "corn dog" as promised . The latest album,"Mirror Traffic," from Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks was released last week. I would have never pegged Beck and Malkmus together, but after giving the album a couple of listens, my question is why it hasn't happen earlier? I would've expected Nigel Godrich to have lent a hand before Beck. "Senator" is the first video and the web only unreleased track titled, "Surreal Teenagers." Thanks for the heads up Matablog . Wait, wait, wait. We were told by Stephen Malkmus that "corn dog" was going to be the replacement to "blow job" in "Senator." But then, he goes on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon an throws in "snow job." Now, are we to assume that the senator, and, well, everyone wants to work in the snow?
