' Just Wait Till I Get You Home ' breathes down your very spine; you picture yourself taking one final step in a barren field, before collapsing onto the hard floor, glancing upwards at the edges of the clouds. Steve Adey 's message, as demonstrated by the title, is one of ultimate hope and anticipation but its sparse, sedated feel fills you with the kind of dread that only the very finest acoustic songwriters can force on you. That song makes up a part of the ' These Resurrections ' EP (artwork [...]

This weeks round up of the tracks that I haven't had the space to post... Steve Adey From: Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom [...]

I thought I would post on a track I recently "rediscovered". I used to listen to this track over and over again, it is distant and dark, slow and beautiful. The song is "Mississippi" from the Edinburgh based singer-songwriter Steve Adey's 2006 stellar album "All Things Real". I can't recommend this song and the entire album (hell, it has a Bonnie 'Prince' Billy cover) enough. Listen to this song, get lost in the song. Play it 3 times consecutively at least and wear headphones if you can. The piano, the background ambient hum, the echo in his voice [...]

Another week down people, success - it's the weekend! As a matter of fact it is a long weekend in Canada due to the real Thanksgiving weekend (no offense to my American Readers!). There actually was a fair amount that was pumping through millions of miles of Ethernet cable this week for all you internet music lovers - and this is only a small portion: So The Mountain Goats have a new EP with Satanic Messiah . Swing on by, donate a few bucks and get some new tracks [...]
Steve Adey is an Edinburgh singer-songwriter. We're not big on rock 'n' roll here in Edinburgh, but there are quite a few folksters and acoustic singers, which seems to suit the local scene rather more. Adey produces atmospheric, desolate folk that reminds me rather more of Adrian Crowley than it does the two legends he [...]

(photo by eotiv (cc)) I wrote my undergraduate dissertation on the Pixies. It's either really cool, or really not, depending on who you ask. Anyway, my encyclopaedic knowledge of the musical backgrounds and influences ( here , for the masochists) covered many genre reference points and was generally a lot of fun to put together. And meant listening to a lot of Pixies = a good thing. I put a quote from Black Francis/Frank Black/Charles Thompson at the front, along the lines of, I wish someone would do their doctorate thesis on the Pixies one day. [...]

MySpace is an even more brutal world than mp3 blogs. Out of about twenty friend requests from bands that I went through yesterday, just the one grabbed my attention. From a record label rather than an artist, for a start, which is slightly more unusual, and obviously signifies that the guy actually has a deal and isn't just some two bit, poorly bedroom-recorded Libertines sound-alike or grunge survivor. In fact, <a href=" Grand Harmonium Records are a fairly tiny Edinburgh-based label, and it seems that the main thrust of their promotion at the moment seems to be behind one [...]

I seemed to have made a wrong turn today and ended up in a dark distant place, but that is really not the reason I come here tonight...I come here tonight to dedicate a song to someone who has been gone far too long and I honestly didn't think I would miss his presence as much as I have for the last month? It seems like it has been far too long without you Colin ( Let's kiss and make up... ) I
