Steve Marcus - Eight Miles High It DOESN'T get better than that video below, and maybe it is cruel of me to compare it but Steve Marcus's tenor sax jam of Eight Miles High is pretty close - at least 7 1/4 Miles High.
In the early days of jazz/rock fusion, people didn't really know how such a thing could be done. It seemed as if it should be a great idea, but there was no blueprint for such a thing. There were no formulas to follow, and everything had to be created anew. Perhaps that's why this cover of The Byrds' Eight Miles High still sounds so shockingly fresh.
