Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Holy Hell The hottest soap opera in rock right now is Aerosmith . The question of whether or not Steven Tyler is still in the band is a melodrama that makes the last days of Velvet Revolver and Scott Weiland look downright banal. First a recap of the week's events: Tuesday night in New York City, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler joined guitarist Joe Perry onstage to announce he was not leaving the band [...]
So yesterday, we, as in I, penned an open letter to Steven Tyler, as in a sarcastic posting concerning the Aerosmith 's on-again, off-again membership in the band. But just when you thought all the drama was finally coming to an end, there is this little comment from Tyler's bandmate, guitarist Joe Perry, in an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone : "[Tyler] wants to take two years off from the band... The rest of the band wants to keep on working. We have so many different options to fill up [...]
Hey, Upper East Siders... err, Aerosmith fans... Gossip Girl here. Looks like S and Little J (and by that I mean, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry ) haven't stopped their feuding yet. Rolling Stone scored an exclusive interview with Perry, in which he makes it known that Tyler isn't necessarily returning to the band - not matter what Lips has to say about it. Here's how Perry tells the story of what went down Tuesday night at his band's Irving Plaza performance: "There was all this commotion [...]

Filed under: News , Holy Hell Although Steven Tyler insisted that he wasn't leaving Aerosmith when he made an impromptu appearance Tuesday night at guitarist Joe Perry 's NYC solo gig, the band's turmoil continues. It seems Tyler wants the group to sit dormant while he takes a lengthy break, and the rest of the band isn't thrilled with that suggestion. "He wants to take two years off from the band," Perry told Rolling Stone . "The rest of the band wants [...]

The excitement of watching Aerosmith wandering about tripping over each other isn't through yet: after the announcement last week that Steven Tyler was out, Steven Tyler has now disannounced his departure at a Joe Perry gig: "I just want New York to know, I am not leaving Aerosmith," Tyler said. Rather than leave it at that, however, he then chose to drop one of the best quotes we've heard in a while. Turning to the Aerosmith guitarist, he said, "Joe Perry, you are a man of many colours. But I, motherfucker, am the rainbow!" [...]
I mean, come ON! Does anyone, including Perry and Tyler themselves, actually believe that a) Aerosmith will continue on with a different singer, and b) Tyler won't eventually go back to the band again? For fuck's sake, what a load of horseshit. Tyler will go off and do his own thing for a year or [...]
Well, the saga of Aerosmith just gets better by the day. In fact, it's quickly surpassing Gossip Girl as my favorite prime-time soap opera. It was only two days ago that Joe Perry was giving interviews saying Steven Tyler had left the band and they would be looking for a new frontman. Many publications had already begun speculating about who the replacement should be. But all that, it seems, is over now. Last night, the Joe Perry Project performed at New York's Irving Plaza. And, lo and behold, who should join the [...]
Dear Mr. Steven Tyler, frontman of the rock band called Aerosmith : We're really happy that you've decided to remain with your band, but was the drama associated with the decision all that necessary? You see, just hours after you reportedly decided to leave the Boston outfit , (because you were on the "Pineapple Express") and your former bandmates had already begun searching for your replacement , you, Mr. Tyler, decided to make a surprise appearance at Joe Perry's solo performance in New York last night to announce that you weren't really leaving the band. [...]

This week Sesame Street is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Since I've spent most of the week celebrating the Slumberland 20th anniversary I've neglected the anniversary of what is most likely the most important kid's television show ever. I know for me personally I grew up on the show, watching Big Bird, Ernie, Bert, and Elmo (I was born the same month and year as Elmo!) teaching children their ABC's and 123's and so much more. I'm sure you all have your own personal histories with Sesame Street, the show has been seen by children around the world and has influenced [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Holy Hell Don't write those Aerosmith obits yet. After tons of media reports in recent days about the legendary Boston rockers heading to splitsville , mainly fueled by guitarist Joe Perry , the guitarist and singer Steven Tyler reunited, appropriately, onstage. At a Joe Perry Project concert in New York City on Tuesday night, Tyler made a dramatic return to the Aerosmith fold, joining Perry for the Aerosmith classic 'Walk This Way.' According to reports, [...]

Iconic frontman Steven Tyler announces his departure from Aerosmith.

Has Aerosmith's Steven Tyler quit the band? That's what guitarist Joe Perry says! This is terrible news. Well, it's actually, good news in that I assumed Steven Tyler died this past summer along with everybody else. So this news means he's alive! Yay for that. Anyway, it would have been a tragedy in 1974, but in 2009 it caused a passing yawn around these parts.
Things have been weird with Aerosmith for a while now. Back in August, Steven Tyler spent some time in the hospital after falling off a catwalk and into the crowd. Then, in September, guitarist Joe Perry quelled suspicions that the band was breaking up saying, simply, "Aerosmith is taking a breather." But now, it appears that if the group does, indeed, take their show on the road again, it will be without Tyler. "Steven quit as far as I can tell," Perry said in an interview with the Las Vegas Sun [...]

Steven Tyler Aerosmith Fox News is reporting that Steven Tyler might leave Aerosmith in an effort to pursue a solo career. The band's 40th anniversary is less than a year away. They are already discussing replacing Tyler or taking an extra long hiatus. It seems like a modern day divorce, 40 years and it's time for a new road. Hopefully the solo career will go well but why mess up sometime great?
