Hopefully Steven stays clear of the edge of the stage this time . [ Consequence Of Sound ] :: Avicii is set to make history as the first electronic artist to headline an arena tour in North America. Filed under: News Kevin Mazur, WireImage Evidently, that guy from 'American Idol' has a band, and in a couple of months, they're going to hit the road . That's right -- Aersomith , the perpetually warring bad boys from Boston, have announced dates for first leg of their Global Warming North American Summer Tour , and according to frontman-turned-TV personality Steven Tyler , the band "is back with a new [...]
Aerosmith will begin its 18-date summer tour this June at Target Center. Dubbed the Global Warming tour, the seminal Boston band will bring Cheap Trick along for the North American dates that carry b

Last night on American Idol we found out which nine contestants would be moving into Chez Idol, but let's be honest, we didn't tune in to see who America kicked off. We wanted to see if "indie pop sensation" Lana Del Rey would face-plant like she did on Saturday Night Live a couple months ago. The odds were in her favor this time, for the performance was pre-taped and it wasn't on SNL 's notoriously awful soundstage. Find out how she fared, and who America voted off, after the jump. [...]

Last night the Top 10 touring American Idol contestants took on Billy Joel's all-American songbook. (Sadly, "We Didn't Start The Fire" wasn't included.) And who better to mentor the singers during Billy Joel week than ... Diddy? (JLo apparently has a thing for working with exes on reality competition shows.) Tommy Hilfiger was also in tow as the style guru, so it was a blown-out episode. Read on to find out who blew up the competition. While Diddy mainly served as some sort of song medium, giving "tips" — for [...]

Last night's American Idol whittled down the contestants to the Top 10 instead of the Top 11, thanks to Jermaine Jones' oopsy-daisy of concealing the five warrants out for his arrest . It was a crucial cut in the Idol universe because once you hit that hurdle, you've made the summer tour. We had an all-female bottom three with Erika Van Pelt and, for the second week in a row, Shannon Magrane and fellow blondie Elise Testone . Elise was the only head-scratcher here, and the judges excoriated Idol Nation for punishing [...]

With Steven Tyler looking even more like Jack Sparrow than usual, we assumed it was going to be a special night on American Idol , and we were right. The Top 12 (actually, Top 11 — bye bye, Jermaine ) remaining contestants chose songs from their birth year, which meant parent interviews and awkward home videos! In choosing their songs, several contestants ignored their strengths and got caught up in the aura of a classic song, but a few chose tunes that dovetailed perfectly with their styles. And, yikes, people are young these days, right? There were [...]

Since we're on the subject of '80s flops that deserved to be bigger hits... Oh, wait! We weren't? Well, it's a topic that's never too far from my mind, so let's discuss, shall we? What about "Ruthless People" by Mick Jagger? If you remember the song at all, you probably haven't thought about it since 1986, the year it appeared on the soundtrack to the Bette Midler-Danny DeVito film Ruthless People and peaked at No. 51 on the Hot 100. Today when my iPod landed on it while I was running up [...]
Filed under: News , Television Getty Images To say the members of Aerosmith have a contentious relationship is not breaking news, but fans may have been shocked at just how tense things can get between the legendary rockers. CBS news profiled the band for ' 60 Minutes ' ( as reported by our counterparts at Noisecreep), allowing journalist Lara Logan special access to each member. She also traveled with [...]

The judges were forced to dash somebody's hopes last night, and so we're down to the dirty dozen, but only after performances by Mary J. Blige and Season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina, plus a group-sing of Stevie Wonder's "As". And has anyone ever stood out during those ensemble performances the way Jermaine Jones does? You can't NOT hear his crazy baritone, so dude better bring his A-game to all of those. But Wednesday night was not his A-game, and he found himself on the bottom along with Elise Testone , Shannon Magrane and Jeremy Rosado . [...]

With the shadow of Whitney Houston looming large over American Idol 's momentous 400th episode, the theme of last night's show may as well have been: "We've set you guys up for failure, so just throw us your best Whitney impression and pray for the best." At least the guys caught a break, being tasked with the more approachable Stevie Wonder songbook. Find out how the Top 13 fared — better than expected, to be honest — below. Either America really knows how to pick 'em, or Mary J. Blige is a great [...]

Pretty good job, America! Either everyone of you read our recaps over the past two nights to inform your voting choices this week, or the divide between who's got the chops and who doesn't has been so black-and-white that there was no question who was making it to the Top 10. Of course, there were those pesky three wildcard slots left for the judges to decide, and Ryan Seacrest did his best to drag the whole thing out for as long as he possibly could. If you didn't manage to stay awake (we did), the American Idol [...]

Early in last night's episode, when the Top 12 — er, make that 13 — ladies sang live for your votes, judge Randy Jackson admitted that they had gone easy, criticism-wise, on American Idol 's Top 13 boys . It was a strange point to make, because wasn't that the point in the first place? Since Simon Cowell and his scathing one-liners left the show, it's been soft pats on the back and commentary couched in encouragement from Idol 's panel of nice guys. Was Randy saying this was all about to change and the criticism [...]

And now it's your turn, America! Last night American Idol went live before the studio — and nationwide — audience, as the Top 12 men sung for their supper, i.e. your votes. So far in the competition, the guys have come out strong, leading us to suspect that a dude will take the Idol crown for a fifth year in a row. But the competition is a a bit more crowded this year: In a tricky twist, producers brought back one of the male contestants eliminated last week. Find out who after the jump. [...]

After a 24-hour wait, we finally learn the fate of Adam Brock , as well as who makes it into the remaining 10 available slots in the coveted Top 24. On Wednesday night , the men came out strong, quickly getting close to filling up the 12 slots for male singers. Last night, however, the scales evened with some stellar female performances, letting America know that voting for a favorite next week will be more difficult than bargained for. Have mercy on Adam Brock 's soul! When we left him [...]

The American Idol Top 42 get to enjoy Las Vegas for a short while before going back to the grind, perfecting their last-chance performances with the hopes of edging each other out and making it into the Top 24. This turning point isn't just stressful for the contestants, but the judges as well. Last year, Jennifer Lopez broke down on stage after telling a contestant they didn't make it into the next round. Still, as tensions rise, so do the stakes because next week America gets a chance to start voting, making it even more [...]

Last night the American Idol Top 70 voyaged from the stresses of Hollywood to the glitz of Sin City where they performed songs from the '50s & '60s at Cirque du Soleil's Viva ELVIS stage. Once again, the contestants were tested in groups on the merit of their vocals — and their ability to not pass out on stage . But this time around the judges looked for the entire package, including choreography, costumes and each group's ability to perform as a cohesive unit. Jump below to see who stole the spotlight in Las Vegas [...]

The stresses of the Hollywood rounds didn't let up with the tense group performances American Idol contestants must endure in order to make it to the finals. Hollywood Week (Part 3) became a test not only of talent, but endurance, as many of the singers began to buckle under the pressure of making it to the next round. Some fainted , some forgot lyrics and some succumbed to the flu. Jump below to see who wowed the judges and who fell apart. Contestants Reed Grimm, Creighton Fraker, Aaron Marcellus, Jen [...]

Some people come to Hollywood and become stars. Others get kicked to the curb. And yet some others faint and fall off stage. Before we get into the talent portion of American Idol 's Hollywood Week (Part I!), let's cut right to the shocking moment everyone will be talking about today: 16-year-old Symone Black's performance of "Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay". Everything goes fine during her a cappella audition, but during a brief chat with the judges afterwards, Symone begins to stumble, falls off the stage, and seems to be knocked unconscious. The [...]
