Life In Surround Sound: Dirty laundry by Adullessence Topeka, Kansas emcee, Adullessence has decided to release his 2009 album, Life In Surround Sound: Dirty Laundry. After his mixtape, Life In Surround Sound: Takeout Food, Pigeons and Trife, Les immediately started recording his debut album with Mellow Orange Music Group's Yusai and Seoul Avenger. After letting the music sit for a few years, Adullessence, is releasing the album in it's entirety, along with a few reworked songs, updated artwork and tracklist. When you get into popularity then you're talking about money, not music. -Duke Ellington Money Jungle: Provocative In Blue is the sort of high-concept album that music geeks adore. In a nutshell: three of today's most accomplished jazz musicians reinterpret a classic jazz album with bold political perspectives and contemporary sounds. I applaud the audaciousness of the project. A core group of drummer and bandleader Terri Lyne Carrington , bassist Christian McBride and pianist Gerald Clayton employ a few additional likeminded musicians and a slew [...]
What is a mid-west rap record without a lil' choppin'? Nothing, is what I say! Featuring JL of BHood over futuristic production from LegendaryKnocks.com, this tune here is quite a treat. This is not for any particular project, but, I thought it was time I officially brought in the new year! Share and Enjoy!
This is a tune smooth as cognac, light on the ice. Featuring guest vocals from Chicago firebrand Mike Schpitz! Share and enjoy at your lesiure, like a nice pint of Brandee!
Let's ring in the new year, with new sounds for your ear! This a lil tune called Pacquiao, and we all saw what happened to Manny in his last bout, he got knocked out!! And this will do the same thing to you! Featuring guest vocals from Topeka MC Bizzy!
Midwestern spitter Stik Figa has been relatively quiet since the re-release of his As Himself album this past April on Mello Music Group. But just because he hasn't flooded us with new music doesn't mean he's not working on new music. Because if newly released "Pacquiao" is any indication, Stik's got some heat in the works. This track is a much more upbeat, bravado-heavy affair from the middle-of-the-map MC.
New music from Stik Figa "Pacquiao" produced by LegendaryKnocks.
The O's (Adullessence, Mike Schpitz & Stik Figa) leak another track "No Doubt" produced by LONEgevity.
New track from The O's (Adullessence, Mike Schpitz, Stik Figa), titled "Breakdown."
From the Mello Music Group debut Stik Figa as Himself, a fan favorite called Corner Store produced by Micheal "Seven" Summers finally received the visual treatment thanks to the careful eye of DOMvisions! Enjoy and makes sure to get the album on itunes, amazon, ughh.com and anywhere country rap tunes are soul'd!! iTunes: As Himself - Stik Figa visit theuglystik.blogspot.com
Stik Figa keeps it minimalist and straightforward in his new video for "Cornerstore", which appears on his damn-good As Himself album. He hangs outside of his personal favorite cornerstore, grabs a drink, and spits his rhymes at the camera. Nothing more, nothing less. But hey, why be flashy and over the top when the music is this good? Peep the visuals below.
This is a song that was left on the cutting room floor after "As Himself is completed. Produced by Seven like the rest of the record, but features Wichita recording artist XV Enjoy
Take a spin through Topeka, Kansas with Stik Figa in his video for “Flaudgin,” a carefree joyride through the blue-collar Midwest. Sure, Stik can get on his MC ish when need be, he can kick a thought-provoking verse when the occasion calls for it, but the Midwest rhymer is just as comfortable crafting something smooth for you to ride to. “Flaudgin,” a standout cut from his Mello Music debut As Himself, is just that, music for the Cuttys, Regals, Chevys and ‘Prices that represent Stik’s native city. The title term is local slang for frontin’ or otherwise posturing, [...]
New visuals from Stik Figa "Knawhatimsayin", off As Himself . Directed by @domvisions. iTunes: As Himself - Stik Figa
Stik Figa drops the latest single "Medicine" from his debut Mello Music Group album As Himself which came out last month. Stik Figa’s newest single “Medicine” incorporates all the tried and true elements that initially made Hip-Hop a cultural movement: sharp insight and clever wordplay backed by a re-configuration of the powerful music of yesterday.
Medicine by Stik Figa In a climate of posturing and pomp, it is refreshing to see an artist like Topeka, Kansas’ Stik Figa unafraid to come As Himself. After spending years gaining prominence in his hometown and love from the likes of Miles Bonny and Oddisee, Stik Figa steps up to the national stage with his debut Mello Music Group album As Himself. The album is blue-collar rap, at times somber and at times jovial. There is no hyperbolized varnish here, just the raw grain of Stik’s mental flow. [...]
Somehow I missed the release of Stik Figa's debut Mello Music Group album last month. After hearing this single though, I think I might have to go check it out. Take a listen to Medicine
Stik Figa - As Himself Mello Music Group: 2012 Being comfortable in your own skin is an invaluable life skill. Dove, Ghostface Killah’s favorite soap, is even using the phrase in their current marketing campaign (not a sponsored sentence, but I’m listening to offers, Hennessy!). Rick Ross wasn’t comfortable in his own skin (or his correctional officer uniform), so he made a whole new persona to put himself on the road to the riches. Stik Figa , from the “other” MMG – Mello Music Group – took the other route, [...]
Absitively by Stik Figa Seven jumps the track off with some chiming jingle bells, strong claps, and a heavy bassline before dropping into an infectious melody and raw drums. Stik Figa wastes now time getting to what he calls his Kim Jong-Ill on this ni&&a version of the cuban missle crisis: "sinkin' battleships with a sick pair of loose lips, don't plan on any cruises, walks on the beach, terrorize every beat, aint no options for me, go hard or go home... kill a track and use the bones to start flossin' my teeth." [...]
