Still Flyin' is an awesome music project out of the always awesome San Francisco. Sean Rawls leads a group of around 15 musicians to create wonderful, do it yourself music. The first single, "The Hottchord Is Struck" reminds me a lot of fellow bay area rockers, Port O'Brien. They both use a tremendous amount of percussion, that accent their music perfectly. Another commonality is the many singers approach. A few of the Still Flyin' songs involve large groups of people singing (think "I Woke Up Today" ). The newest album, Never Touch The Ground [...]

I'm sitting here in my media bunker at Austin's Top Notch taking in the music and drunken revelry of South By Southwest over a plate of world-famous fried chicken and onion rings. Just kidding. I'm actually sitting on my couch taking in the street noise with a PB&J ... on toast. Am I still sexy? If I were at SXSW, I'd be in line to see Still Flyin' , the 75-member San Fran HAMMJAMM band fronted by Sean Rawls (Masters of the Hemisphere and Je Suis France ) [...]

Hello Welcome to another news roundup full of the latest music and film news! - The 405 SWSW Roundup Rather than to write a million different news updates for SXSW we thought we'd just sum up the latets additions! Built By Snow (picture above) will be playing the Cedar Door tomorrow at 9pm. Still Flyin' will be playing numerous shows at SXSW and The Drones will be playing at Emo's on the 17th. MP3: [...]

San Fransisco's Still Flyin' is less of a band and more of a mob, a group of fifteen (or more) musicians led by Sean Rawls that redefine the term party-rock. The group have a new album on the way, entitled Never Gonna Touch the Ground , which will be released April 21st. You can download "The Hott Chord is Struck" below, an electrifying, danceable groove with a bit of a disco streak featuring horns, layers of percussion, and a slinky bass line. You can also see the video for the equally great "Good Thing It's A Ghost Town Around [...]

Metric - "Waves" As my imaginary ex-husband reported yesterday, Metric are back! "Waves" is supposedly a b-side to their new album Fantasies , although don't quote me on that. A cute track that makes me glad they've returned. 800beloved - "Mortgage Your Organs" Garage shoegaze, if there is such a thing. From their debut album Bouquet which I'm planning to review in the near future (but I can tell you already that it's great). "Mortgage Your Organs" is definitely my song of the week [...]
Still Flyin' is a massive (just look at the band photo) indie pop band from San Francisco. The group is set to release their debut album Never Gonna Touch The Ground on April 7th. You can grab an MP3 for the fun-loving party song "The Hott Chord Is Struck" here. Here's a quick look at the track listing:Never Gonna Touch the Ground Following the Itinerary Forever Dudes Good Thing It's a Ghost

Sure, the video for Still Flyin's "Good Thing Its A Ghost Town Around Here" would have been a much better fit if I had actually found it around Halloween, but the song is still a fun distraction for the weekend. The San Francisco "surf/surf/surf" outfit has an album coming out soon, and it might also have one of the most irritating aesthetics of any indie act in recent memory—their "Hang Loose" determination to rid the world of harsh buzzes is seemingly assembled from a collection of early-'80s Ocean Pacific t-shirts—but there are a few hooky tracks up its cotton [...]

Still Flyin' - Good Thing It's A Ghost Town Around Here Upplyftande pop från San Francisco.

Written by Fense Still Flyin' is somewhat of an indiepop supergroup. Fronted by Sean Rawls (Masters of the Hemisphere and Je Suis France), he has build Still Flyin' into a powerhouse that features members of bands as diverse as Red Pony Clock, Aislers Set, Ladybug Transistor, and Maserati. "Big Lord" isn't new. Actually, it's off the group's debut release Time Wrinkle EEJ . Since then they've released a single and are now giving us their sophomore release, Never Gonna Touch The [...]

The San Francisco-based supergroup Still Flyin' was assembled in late 2004 by singer/songwriter Sean Rawls. By the time he arrived on the West Coast he was already a veteran of several Athens, GA bands, including Masters of the Hemisphere and Je Suis France. Still Flyin' was originally inspired by a song written by Rawls in his time with Je Suis France. The song was titled "Never Gonna Touch the Ground," and quickly became a live show staple and crowd favorite. After relocating to San Francisco, the song seemed to have a life of its own and [...]
They were described to me as a 15 piece collective with a sound steeped in rocksteady . I would add that Still Flyin' sounds like Polyphonic Spree on vacation in Jamaica, maybe blazin' up a fatty on the beach, jerk chicken on a paper plate within arms reach. The band was formed in 2004 by former Je Suis France member, Sean Rawls, in San Fran. Apparently lots of other bands I've never heard of love 'em, but what's truly important is that they manage to cram the feel of the sprawling jam band [...]

We've got a two-part sneak preview for you which will conclude tomorrow with a look at the new Ladybug Transistor album. But first, Antenna Farm Records has provided Optical Atlas with a glimpse of the new albums by Je Suis France and Still Flyin' , including some MP3s which you can download below. We've previously talked about Still Flyin' , the reggae supergroup fronted by Sean Rawls ( Masters of the Hemisphere ) and including members of Aislers Set, Ladybug Transistor , Love Is All , [...]

For this week's MP3 feature, a curve ball. The Masters of the Hemisphere broke up a few years ago after putting out their best record, Protest a Dark Anniversary . Sean Rawls, one of the singer/songwriters in the band, moved over to Je Suis France , while the other Masters went their separate ways. For Je Suis France , Rawls had written "Never Gonna Touch the Ground," a reggae number that seemed to suggest a new direction in his songwriting. The outlet became Still Flyin' , a Rawls-led San Francisco-based supergroup that [...]
