I’ve been a Stones Throw fan for many years but since its traditionally a hip hop label there’s been precious few (if any) of their tracks posted on SBWR. However things have changed in Peanut Butter Wolf’s camp, now there’s all sorts of quality indie artists being added to the roster. Namely L.A. duo BoardWalk , take a listen to their latest single ‘I’m To Blame’ below... BoardWalk – ‘I’m To Blame’ [...]
Some things are better left in the dark corners of CDBaby. Stones Throw Records, 2013 2.3 / 10 The story behind the self-titled Crow44 release by Stones Throw Records is actually more interesting...

Dreamy pop music always has a place in the summer months and there's an early frontrunner for king of the beach. Los Angeles duo Boardwalk built their own equipment, have already been signed by Stones Throw (who appear to be less and less interested in hip hop every day) and just released their first single on flexidisc. I'm sure you can infer something from that by reading Simon Reynolds' Retromania , but I prefer to just take it as is. Later this summer, the duo will release their debut full length so you'll just have to bathe in the false [...]

New Madlib track from his super-limited (300 copies) new Rock Konducta white label 45, made exclusively for his forthcoming Zamrock show in San Francisco next month . Read more about the show at Rappcats , and show up early if you want to cop:

The hood is really loving this one, 10k+ in just one day. Jonwayne showcasing his lyrical mastermind on this Pusha T/ Kanye produced joint. Click through to the soundcloud for the lyrics. Oh yeah, and, I read on Stones Throw that the Cassette series may be a trilogy? #fingerscrossed PS grab the recently released Daytime Naps .

Apparently this dude was signed to Stones Throw, inked up n everything and then pulled out due to - well, I'm not exactly sure why he pulled out. For me, Stones Throw has been the label that can do no wrong, the label anyone of the hip-hop/producer artists I cover would love to be a part of. I'm sure there will be more on the subject but for now just know that he had that opportunity. We'll just have to take his word for it, that there must be some reason to dodge a deal like [...]

This is something almost completely uncharacteristic of Jonwayne , ambient music. Though there is no reason for it to be; I feel like all producers should try their hand at ambient/ drone cuts at least once. It's such a wide-open genre right now, it has no limits. The mix is 67 minutes and it's the first time the wayniac has been featured on the Stones Throw Podcast. I haven't listened yet, although I my nap game has been very heavy lately. If you're feeling it, drop a line on twitter, he's been asking for feedback on this one. He [...]

Yessir Whatever is out now on Stones Throw ; vinyl out June 18 .

Download: Stones Throw Podcast 81: Jonwayne Daytime Naps Jonwayne has created an ambient, 67-minute mixtape called Daytime Naps, his first mix in the Stones Throw Podcast series. He explains it: "For a couple of years I have started to embrace daytime napping again. Back in the day it was just something we did, but I feel that if you have a schedule that allows it you shouldn't feel out of touch with the act of passing out on a couch or going back to bed altogether. It leaves [...]

![[stream] Boardwalk // I’m To Blame](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4937199_lg.jpg)
Los Angeles duo Boardwalk haven't been around long; according to their brief bio, the outfit formed last summer, and in the intervening year they've managed to secure a guitar and bassist in Mark Noseworthy of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, as well as a spot on Stones Throw Records , who will be releasing their debut album at some point this summer. "I'm To Blame" is the first track that's been released into the wild, though I'm not sure if it's a one-off single or if it will be on [...]

Just signed to Stones' Throw, Boardwalk are the L.A. duo of singer Amber Quintero and Mike Edge. First single "I'm To Blame" is like something so beautiful in it's space and element, like a rose at its peak bloom or a very pretty music box that to touch it or to engage with it would somehow sully it/interrupt it as it is. The dusty perfectly reverbed guitars, the tin-toned organ drones & Quintero's warm & easy vocal are just a few of the track's highlights. Sample "I'm To Blame" below. Boardwalk [...]

Recorded live by Devin McManus at Club Downunder in Tallahassee on October 10th 2011, covering "More Bounce 2 the Ounce" from one of the greatest modern-funk albums of all time: ZAPP. via Stones Throw

trippy/drippy/bubbly mix from Cutting Practice features: Fantasy Camp, Squadda, Quasimoto, some A$VP mobsters, and new one from NanosauR . It's a weird compilation, I understand the affiliation to be that all these producers are really nice. Spotted at the bloglin .

Jonwayne threw us a jam from Cassette 2 , this one's featuring Zeroh.. so these are fresh joints from the wayniac's layer. More about the second tape release here. The sample on the beat to Passing Fancies is incredibly ill.

Planned Attack I doubt that you're ready
