Australia’s most respected DJ Ajax has passed away in Melbourne overnight. Ajax, real name Adrian Thomas, was one of the founding members of the Bang Gang crew that helped usher electro to a wider audience in Australia and worldwide. He put his heart and soul into his record label Sweat It Out. Words can't describe how devastated we are. He was one of the original reason Stoney Roads started in the first place.

In electronic music today, in a time where singles & EPs are most prevalent, good full length albums are hard to come by. In that rare occasion when a good dance album is released & discovered, even then will you find that only half, maybe three quarters of the tracks are absolute killers. An occasion even more rare is when you can put on an album, sit back and thoroughly enjoy each track from start to finish; no skipping, no fast forwarding...just pure bliss all the way through. Jupiter, the wonderful French-English duo based out of Paris, have [...]
Last month I posted a track by Stoney and Guy Chambers and I recommended you head to Stoney's web site to grab some free downloads. Well I've been enjoying one of those free downloads so much this month that it's made its way on to the playlist . MP3: Hold The Stars - Stoney
Another track from Sheffield and this one sounds like a mix between James, JJ72 and Placebo. It's a collaboration between Stoney (Mark to his Mum) and Guy Chambers who's penned a few tracks in his time. It's all gone quiet on the Stoney front since 2007 but he says on his blog he will be back with new material soon. Head over to his web site for three free downloads. You can listen to this while reading... We R in Need of a Musical Revolution-Esthero I am an advocate for the musician. Just by having a blog I am promoting artists less known, and re-hashing artists forgotten. I fully understand and support that artists should get paid their deserved royalties and advances, and the record companies that produce, release, and market these artists should get their share as well, it's how the music industry works. And it's obvious with all of the independent musicians, more outlets are needed for proper [...]
"i use to believe for years that there were cameras surrounding me. that my life felt like a movie -- in the ways life could change, all those different people, tragedies, traumas, beautiful experiences were things to learn from and that the ten thousand feelings that could take over only ever meant one thing.. it wasn't a movie, it was real. there was always just a good soundtrack" [...]

St. Patrick's Day! Celebrate with a pint of Guinness or Harp's, and don't forget to wear green, lest ye get pinched. I'm continuing my imaginary itinerary through the final hours of SXSW. Remember to check the bands' MySpace pages because many of them are touring beyond this festival. If you can't go to them, maybe they'll be coming to you! Beginning in the wee hours: Midlake from Denton, TX - 12 AM @ Buffalo Billiards Everybody and their blogging brother loved "Roscoe" from Midlake's 2006 CD The [...]
Here are the also-rans for my Favorites of 2006 . There are other albums I wish I had listened to enough to have favorites, but I can't count them in this bunch. I'm sure I will have regrets in the months to come. The following songs did get played a lot and yet had to be taken off the list in favor of others at some point. Niobe: Give All to Love [...]
