London brooding SynthPop outfit Strangers single, Something New is finally out, and it comes equipped with a cracking B-Side, Never Enough (recently reMixed by No Ceremony). The guys have seen fit to unleash this alternate version of the B-Side with a few new touches and vocal help from English songstress Kyiki . This is a big, bombastic, ElectroPop monster of the stadium variety. Powerful drums, layers upon layers of heavy synths and an epic, sweeping vocal all combine to deliver a rousing opus. Dark and [...]

Hi, we are the four piece upbeat indie band Alaskan Faction. We've been together since March of 2012 and we formed while looking for an interesting escape from our monotonous degrees at the University of Nottingham (a various assortment of Physics, Finance and Physiotherapy). Over the past year we've refined our sound that follows influences ranging from Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals, Two Door Cinema Club, Peace and Swim Deep. We were recently played on BBC Radio 1 by Huw Stephens and would love to spend the summer gigging all over the UK. You can find all our songs on SoundCloud [...]

The forthcoming new single from London SynthPop trio Strangers , Something New , has been given a moody electronic workout by enigmatic Manchester based outfit No Ceremony . Something New is due for release later this month backed with another new track Never Enough on Strangers own label, Just Off Pop. No Ceremony take thing deeper and darker with their haunting electronics. Like Minimal Synth, but with more groove, this reMix plays around with vintage drum machine sounds and space synths against brilliant chimes and running hi-hats. It’s like certain [...]
Mysterious Manchester outfit NO CEREMONY/// have remixed 'Something New', the new single from synth-pop trio Strangers . Whilst virtually nothing is known about NO CEREMONY/// - with their information guarded from their social media outlets and website - one thing is clear: They can do justice to a remix whatever the genre, having previously reworked Patrick Wolf, The 1975 and Dry The River. 'Something New' has been given an even more melancholic direction compared to the original. Everything has been heightened, with this new ruffled texture and harder-hitting beat. The synths trickle along [...]
We now get to feast our eyes on the video for Strangers ’ fantastic new single “Something New”. I would suggest finding some 3D glasses to throw on to enhance your viewing of the beautiful choreography at work. The single will be out May 13th on the newly formed label Just Off Pop.
"With instrumental music the expanse of relateability is essentially endless." With their most recent release, Stranger, american experimental-folk-band BALMORHEA once again headed for new territories. There's rarely any other band out there at the moment, which captures different moods and vibes by the means of pure instrumental music and turn it into absolutely stunning records The post Interview: Balmorhea - "One can always log-off, tune out and just play old vinyls!" appeared first on Nothing But Hope And Passion - NBHAP - Music Magazine & more .
Strangers are; David Maddox-Jones, drummer Raife Hacking and synth player Piers Sherwood-Roberts and they release their début single aptly entitled "Something New" for brand new label Just Off Pop on 13th May 2013. Their highly addictive sound really captures everything this band is all about, soaring vocals, big sounds and a massive drive behind every song they produce. They're no strangers to big hits, their last song ("Safe / Pain") was a stormer and this latest effort we've been sent is [...]
The new video for 'Something New' by Strangers was filmed by Ian West. You might very rightly remember West as more as a popular band photographer, having shot TGTF favourites Frankie and the Heartstrings , Field Music and the Drums , just to name a couple of acts you are no doubt familiar with. According to singer David Maddox-Jones of the band, he explained the video this way: "we wanted the video to be an expression of how Jess (the dancer) felt when listening to the song. We [...]

Strangers 7" out now on Polyvinyl.
Strangers are myself (David Maddox jones), Raife Hacking, Piers Sherwood Roberts. We are three completely different characters brought together by a shared love of great songwriting, good blazers and vibes. Our influences range from Depeche Mode to Justin Timberlake, to Suede, Nine Inch Nails, M83, loads of stuff. Myself and Raife started this project after the demise of a previous group were in in 2011 and since then we've been doing our thing, writing, recording and releasing as Strangers. We are quite simply striving to write the perfect pop song and play to large audiences all over the world, who [...]
The bird's beak rat tat tatting against my house woke me up this morning, but I'm getting so used to it I fell back to sleep. When I woke up, I looked out the window, saw the gray skies and decided to lie in bed a while and finish reading the James Patterson novel 12th of Never (Women's Murder Club). Patterson must grind out a book every month which is probably why his novels are getting shorter and shorter like Mary Higgins Clark's did with all the blank pages between chapters. I stopped reading Clark. I fear Patterson is next. [...]
AKA the 'The 405 vs Technology Edition'. Our server's been plagued by gremlins this week; we had to deal with loads yesterday. We also had to deal with them last Friday when the previous week's edition was supposed to go up. I also saw a recorded phone interview (figuratively) go up in smoke last weekend. Electronic devices seem to have it in for us this week, but we're pressing on regardless. To make up for the absence of some New Music Friday action last week, I've decided to change things up a bit, as well as add some more material [...]
Polyvinyl sent me Psychic Twin 's gorgeous white vinyl Strangers 73 a few weeks ago, and I was hooked before the first track was done playing. Erin Fein, Brett Sanderson, and Jonny Sommer comprise the '80s-esque synth pop trio, creating and performing their own unique and darkly romantic sound. I caught up with Psychic Twin on their way through Chicago at Schubas , the second stop on their tour, and talked to them before their show about their creative process, their 73, and Erin Fein's dance moves... VS: How’s the [...]
