This weekend I stumbled upon a great cover of the staple Such Great Heights. Their take on the classic song from The Postal Service is skewed heavily toward the ska genre and the opening thirty seconds are brilliantly rendered by their horn section. Honestly my only gripe is that the horns take such a back seat throughout the remainder of the song. Enjoy. mp3 : Streetlight Manifesto - Such Great Heights (The Postal Service Cover) You seriously need to listen to this track. At least the first thirty seconds or so. It's still [...]

So about a week ago, Less Than Jake came to Philly and I completely skipped it. I still feel guilty about it (let's be honest, ska is a dying breed) so I've been listening to my old early high school favorites for the past week (seriously, Less Than Jake used to be my JAM 13 years ago when I was just a wee freshman). Less Than Jake has a lot of obscure vinyl releases, but one of their rarer and more interesting ones was their EP "Pesto". Only 3000 pressed, and while technically released in 1999, the songs [...]

Big D And The Kids Table used to be my favorite ska band years back. Every ska show I would go see, they would open, and their tour with Arrogant Sons of Bitches was one of the greatest I've seen. I will admit though, their release "Fluent In Stroll" sort of made me lose interest in the band as I didn't really like their new change in style, but when I heard them say that "For The Damned,
