Wow, could the emergence of "balearic" music really be more than 5 years old already?! Somehow, the sounds of this Studio escaped my ears while I was getting floated on all that ambient, propulsive, hummy groove stuff. I'm happy to report that jams like this have not aged nearly as badly as some other trends from just a few years ago. The band may be blandly named, but the beachy escape is sweet and succulent. Got an email from San Francisco artist Ryan De La Hoz regarding a recent 2 minute video directed by Bradley Tangona n that features his work.  Ryan talks about how he favors human imperfections over digital illustration,  the value of repetition,  and why he likes working with paper.

This is an album from 2007 that I completely missed out on, and it's a great one. Dubby, Spaced-out music from Sweden. It's a little daunting getting through the first track, which is 16 minutes long, but it's one of those songs, not unlike a lot of dun, that you can just sink into and on future listens will want to play over and over again. Well, it looks as if this weekend's rumours that Daft Punk have left long-time label Virgin/EMI to sign a new deal Sony/Colombia are true, and there's even better news as their 4th studio album will be released this May, according to the Guardian . So far details are scarce, but we do know that Chilly Gonzales, Giorgio Moroder, Nile Rodgers and Paul Williams have all worked on the album in some way. Montreal dream pop quintet Young Galaxy is back with a new album, the first since 20112s excellent Shapeshifter . Young Galaxy are releasing their 4th album Ultramarine on April 23 via Paper Bag Records . "Pretty Boy" is the infectious first single, due February 5th. The release will also include a remix by Peaking lights. Ultramarine was produced by the very reliable Swedish producer Dan Lissvik (Studio).
