Death By Audio was bananas on Tuesday. It's been awhile since I've gotten music-induced bruises, but this rowdy show was definitely a welcome change. Screaming Females SHRED. JEFF the Brotherhood ROCK. Stupid Party were actually pretty fun, too. There were mardi-gras beads, inflatable aliens, and a fog machine. The kids had a really good night out. What else is there to know? Rock and roll, man. If you want to see some photos from the show, you can head on over to Impose and check them out. MP3: "U Got The Look" - JEFF [...]
One of my all-time favorite new bands, JEFF The Brotherhood , played at Death By Audio on Tuesday. They followed sets by Stupid Party and Screaming Females. This was undoubtedly the best JEFF performance I've seen yet! To start, JTB's Jake took out large bundles of beads (perhaps from their travels to Mardi Gras?) and threw them into the audience. That wasn't the only thing flying around in the crowd. There were also two giant inflatable aliens being tossed around, as well as crowd surfers. Sweaty limbs flying were everywhere! Unfortunately, I think things got a little [...]

I went to see Lovvers last night at Cake Shop based solely on hearing their one (difficult to pronounce on the radio) track, "AXTXTXIXTXDXE." It starts with a wash of undulating ascending feedback, turns into a lovely British-punk influenced jingle jangle, and finishes before it hits the two minute mark. Nothing groundbreaking, sure, but I thought it fit nicely into all of today's lo-fi business, but happily incorporated more of their punk influences. Something about their recordings just seemed more honest to me, historically, than many similar bands floating around the web. I was not disappointed [...]
