It's hard to believe after all the projects that Jack White has been involved with over the years that he's only just now getting to his first solo album. Blunderbuss tops this week's list of new releases, and if you're fan of The White Stripes, The Raconteurs or The Dead Weather, grabbing this one is a no brainer, though you'll get a you'll definitely be in for some surprises. As our Music Director, Don Yates, says, it "features a more expansive and diverse sound than anything's he's recorded with, masterfully combining elements of garage-rock, folk-rock, blues, country, ragtime, [...]
![Suckers – Candy Salad [Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4222006_lg.jpg)
I wasn't familiar with the band called Suckers . They are from Brooklyn, New York and I think people should have a listen to them. The band consists of: Quinn Walker Austin Fisher Brian Aiken Pan The band just dropped their second album " Candy Salad " which is out on Frenchkiss Records . With a band named like that I would have expected something lout and heavy, was I definitely wrong! I was [...]
Hopefully your haul from Record Store Day is enough to keep your ears abuzz with new music for the coming weeks. If you're like me, though, and weren't successful at grabbing all the limited edition 7-inches on your list, there are plenty of releases today to keep you busy and satisfied. Pretty much everyone, regardless of gender, has a crush on Jack White (@thirdmanrecords). Undoubtedly a future rock and roll hall of famer, it's hard to believe that Blunderbuss is [...]

These are the sort of weeks I love. Do you notice more than five groups below? Did you listen to the mp3s from the relative unknowns? I'm a bit giddy for all of us. To start, Facts on File (shown above) arrive with their self-titled sophomore album. The California crew has become somewhat of a mainstay on the West Coast, but with garage rock like "How Will We Get Along", expect them to show up soon on stage with some of your tour-friendly groups. Fixers provide some UK loving, courtesy of [...]

Brooklyn's Suckers sophomore album, Candy Salad , has been a consistent listen since showing up in my my inbox a few weeks back. Now, we have a full album stream to hear for yourself the band's diverse array of sounds with just the right balance of pop sensibility and quirkiness. It is a big step forward from their debut album without compromising the uniqueness that made us fall for them in them the first time around. You can find the stream below. [...]
We've previewed a couple singles from Brooklyn guitar pop crew Suckers ' upcoming record Candy Salad , and now you can stream the whole thing. As much as we liked "Chinese Braille" and "Turn on the Sunshine," we're partial to the band's massive, sweeping moments, so we adore album opener "Going Nowhere," which sounds like the band taking cues from Local Natives' big beats and harmonic vocals and steering them in a psych-pop direction all their own. We're also digging "Figure it Out," which sounds like a popped-up take on Animal Collective [...]

It's a holiday celebrated by few, but those few treat it like Christmas morning. In fact, some might consider it better than Christmas morning: Record Store Day. Since its inception in 2007, countless vinyl enthusiasts have woken up - on Saturday morning, no less - to patrol the streets in their pajamas, eventually taking up real estate outside their favorite record store, all in the hopes that they'll snag priceless soon-to-be artifacts that, more or less, give them bragging rights. It's relentless, it's addicting, but it's pastime. Consequence of Sound looks forward to [...]

Candy Salad is a deceptively straightforward and simple sounding album, but there is definitely a lot going on here. Music Player (reviews): [...]
Listen to Suckers ' new album "Candy Salad" below. Following up an album as exemplary as Suckers ' debut LP "Wild Smile" with one equally as good would be a tall feat for anyone, but in the run up to the release of their new album "Candy Salad" they seemingly did just that. "Chinese Braille" captured that falsetto-driven shine that was so evident on "Wild Smile" , [...]

I'm taking it back to 2010. I've been obsessing over Sucker's Wild Smile the last several days. In fact, I've been listening to A Mind I Knew and Save Your Love For Me on near repeat. One of the things I love about not being caught in the rat race of writing about the latest music is that I can go back and cover things I've loved or missed. I was just a wee little blogger back in July 2010 when Wild Smile came out and not nearly as likely [...]

We really enjoyed the first offering, Turn On The Sunshine , from Brooklyn's Suckers upcoming new album. Now, we get the second taste with the soulful and poppy Chinese Braille . You can listen to both tracks below. Candy Salad is out April 24th on Frenchkiss Records . MP3 : Suckers - Turn On The Sunshine

[The Lookahead is a monthly segment where we get to be all newsy and point out cool stuff going down in the next 30 days or so. We'll have cool Pittsburgh music shows and events, local album releases, and some national releases of interest. This is the good stuff we've heard about. Come back on the 1st of each month for more!] Earlier today, we shared some upcoming Pittsburgh events and releases, and now it's time for part two: all the [...]
Brooklyn's Suckers have been making great, worldly guitar pop for quite some time, and now they're gearing up to release a second LP called Candy Salad by teasing a few singles of radically different vibe. If you were expecting another orchestral pop jam in the vein of "Turn on the Sunshine," put your suspicions before when you click play on single number two, "Chinese Braille," which is, yep, a moody slow-burner. No one's abandoning their love for awesome, varying guitar tones (that solo!) nor that affinity for hyper-catchy riffs in unexpected places (that whistling!) [...]
