As you might know by now, Clues is the new project from former Unicorns co-founder Alden Penner; the debut self-titled album comes out TODAY on Constellation , and the video below is for the track "Haarp". There's a factory in Brooklyn making great bands, and it's latest creation is called Suckers. This four song EP gets in and out without a dull moment, and the indie-anthem "It Gets Your Body Movin" is the perfect leaving-the-listener-wanting-m ore exit. The sound makes sense when you look at the production credits for Anand Wilder (Yeasayer) and Chris Moore (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs). This has been a great week for new tunes here on the Tape Deck. Release dates are keeping me salivating, and my lp shopping cart is overflowing (mostly pre-orders). So far the group-chanting Brooklyn BTW Suckers are best known for their outfits, a self-titled EP produced by Yeasayer's Anand Wilder and Chris Moore (TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), and a lineup featuring fellow BTW Quinn Walker. That, and a "2080"-style, occasionally dub-y sound constructed from joyful synth-and-percussion combos. Now maybe they'll be known, too, for their various (and varied) day jobs. Multi-instrumental songwriter Quinn does double time as a doorman at Glasslands and a bartender at Arrow Bar (and, maybe, a male escort). I love bands where everybody's all singin' all at once, there.
