The Brooklyn based indie-rockers Suckers released this gem of a song roughly a year ago. And while "Black Sheep" probably didn't make into your Top 5 track list for 2010, it's still a fantastic bit of music. Luckily for us, we have someone as skilled as André Anjos (perhaps better known to you as RAC ) to remix songs like these and create something so utterly fantastic and catchy that not only captures and reminds us of a track that we love—like "Black Sheep"—but also reinvents the song into something even more enjoyable and beautiful. Recommended Show: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2011 SUCKERS @ BOWERY BALLROOM 6 Delancey St New York, NY 10002 $15, 8PM There's a certain sense of accomplishment that a band must feel when playing the Bowery Ballroom--one of New York City's definitive venues. It's probably even a nicer feeling to headline the space. Suckers take that honor tonight. We just got our hands on Biacco 's new track, Sucker For Your Love . In his words, "funky disco dance music with a dash of arnold palmer half&half." In my words, "you (stutter) d-don't know... me!" Great tune to kick start the long weekend! Grab the download, below. MP3: Sucker For Your Love (Original Mix) by Biacco
Headless Horseman is playing Piano's again tonight. I haven't had a chance to see them live yet but I've heard nothing but good things and Fareed is a cool dude so I'm excited to check them out. Also playing are DADS which is a new project from Hima (Das Racist) and Quinn (Suckers) which should be good times. Speaking of Das Racist they'll be DJing the festivities. In my experience a Das Racist

My favorite song from the wonderful album, "Wild Smile."

Here are the videos that have caught my attention this week ... Suckers It Gets Your Body Moving Strange, atmospheric, arresting, disturbing what more can you want from a video? SUCKERS - [...]

Here are a few of the better/more interesting videos that have found our way into the in-box recently. First up are The Whigs , a band we've posted about a few times. This is the band keeping it simple in their self-directed video for So Lonely from current album In The Dark . Rodeo Massacre are a Swedish/French band in thrall to the sixties garage scene and playing their own twisted take on psychedelic blues. [...]
Suckers//If It Gets Your Body Moving This isn't an exclusive, but that's not why we post things on this site. However, it is great and I'm stoked that it was brought to my attention by the very men that helped create it, Amberly Productions . Listen, watch, enjoy. http://suckersmusic.com music from my ears. video from Amberly. to you. with love. jp

( Editor's note:I wanted to lob in a couple of words on 2010 today, kind of put a punctuation mark at the end of the twelve month period (for my own sense of closure, if nothing else). 2010 was a fantastic year in my non-internet-blogging life, so I feel like I listened to less records than I have in years previous. With that caveat, there are still four records that I know I'll be listening to for a while; even in a year when I didn't plant that many seeds, there's still a reasonable crop for a best [...]

2010 Top Twenty from Craig 1. Shadow Shadow Shade – S/T: Out of nowhere a sonic tour de force from the L.A. band previously known as Afternoons . The album is packed with operatic indie rock tunes. It's clear that these are seasoned musicians, but the album returns to a common theme among nascent song writers – ruminations on young love/lust and the misunderstandings that surround it. This album immediately grabs you. The opening track Is This a Tempest [...]
Here it is: our list of what we think are the best albums of the past 12 months. You're undoubtedly bored of these at this point, but we always like throwing our hat in the ring as well. We're not going wax poetic about each release - just a couple of sentences, a representative song...

A good live show can lift you out of a funk, make you look around and realize there is no where else on earth you'd rather be, make the hairs on your arms stand on end, remind you that there is still magic in the music being made today. These are the eight shows from 2010 that achieved all the above and then some. Octopus Project @ SXSW + KFN [...]

Continuing our best of 2010 coverage we now look at some of the awesome songs recorded by our pals at Daytrotter this year. And I will just go and say it... Daytrotter is quite possibly my favorite places to find music on the internet. If you are not clicking over there at least one a week, you are really missing out. Yes, you have to register and use their java-based downloader thingy, but it is so worth it. These are our favorite Daytrottin' tracks of 2010 . Listen. Downloadables: [...]
