The National's sixth full-length album, Trouble Will Find Me , is due out on May 21st via 4AD. It's their first album since 20102s High Violet . In celebration of Casimir Pulaski Day, an Illinois holiday held in memory of Revolutionary War hero Casimir Pulaski, Sufjan Stevens fittingly shared an early demo of his song named after the holiday. Said Stevens of the demo, which ultimately became the song that appeared on 20052s Illinois via his Tumblr : "Not sure when I recorded this, but I was obviously still working it out. In celebration of Casimir Pulaski Day - an Illinois holiday on the first Monday of March - Sufjan Stevens dusted off this apropos Illinois -era demo this morning. Complete with alternate lyrics and a bare-bones arrangement sans trumpet solo ("I was obviously still working it out," he says .), it's great to hear a sketch of what would become one of his best and most beloved songs, not to mention one of three tracks that bring author Jonathan Franzen to tears. Celebrate with Sufjan Stevens by streaming the minimalistic early take on the song that introduced non-Illinoisans to the fact that this was a real holiday, posted to his tumblr today.
